That's it's great to see a curvy women in a top tv job

It's so refreshing to see Holly Willoby on tv with all her curves. I know she is expecting right now but it's so nice to see a real women for a change. Long may it continue!!

I thought the same to be honest.

She was swapping one of her dresses on Good Morning the other day and someone asked what size it was. A size 12 apparently!!! I didn't think young female celebrities were ever bigger than a size 6 these days.

I thought then how nice it was for someone to be a normal healthy size on TV!! Good on you Holly!!!

YABU, her shape is irrelevant. The world would be a better place if we worried more about her presenting skills and less about her shape.

Real women is the world's most irritating phrase.

I agree 'real' women is an irritating phrase, but is is nice to see women presenters of all shapes and sizes of TV as overall they are a truer representation of women, who of course, are all sizes.

I do think female celebs like Holly Willoughby and Nigella Lawson show that women of all sizes can be well groomed and attractive.

Im a size 8 does that mean I shouldn't be on TV because I'm not curvy? Some people are naturally slender, if she is good at what she does then her size shouldn't matter.

yes 'real' women is very irritating makes me somehow feel that as a size 8 iam somehow not considered a real woman myself just because i lack curves (despite a very healthy diet and eating tons of cake!).

its just nice to see a bit of variety now when it comes to shape/size on tv.

Rpickett- the op is just saying its nice to see someone on telly who isnt a size 12. Thin women are hardly under represented on telly!

Size isn't all though I'd like to see some average looking women on telly too. How come men can be short or fat or crosseyed and be on telly, but women (for the most part) all have to be attractive?

Surely all the real woman thing means is a more likely representation of the average woman off the street. A size 12 surely acheives this over a size 6 or less...

strange isnt it this 'real woman' thing i have found so many times that people will say to me 'you're too thin'/'youve lost a lot of weight ' etc etc whereas i would never dream of saying to somebody larger 'oooh havnt you got big youve put on tons of weight' its somehow acceptable to criticise slim people yet champion the curvier and the majority of slim people are naturally that way, we dont all have eating disorders in fact i eat a lot more than some of my much curvier friends!

Holly's a right dullard, but I do admire her style. She has a nice, feminine, slightly '50s thing going on. And it is nice to see a woman who doesn't look like she is borderline anorexic on television.

I agree 'real women' is insulting, however, it is nice to see a different body shape to what we are used to on tv (ie an 8 on less) I think she looks fab!

I'm a size 8 (and don't starve myself), does that mean I'm not a real woman? I think the average size in the UK is a 16 but I'm not entirely sure... either way just because you meet the average criteria doesn't make ou any less 'real'

I'm with theevildead in wishing there was a chance for average-looking women of whatever size to get a presenting job if they have the right skills. Maybe I'd think differently if male presenters were all gorgeous.

Have no idea what Holly Willoughby actually looks like, though, so not sure what I'm doing in this thread. (hides)

It's nice that you don't have to conform to a particular size/shape to be successful on TV BUT I agree with everyone who hates the 'real women' thing.

Slim women are 'real' as well and insulting them by calling them 'stick-like' or 'anorexic' or worse, or implying they must be unhealthy, is IMO no better than the fat-hate you're trying to combat. Surely the point should be 'real women' (and indeed men) come in a range of shapes and sizes and that this is fine?
