To think that some people use the term ''middle class'' as an insult?

''Oh your sooooo middle class'' has been said to me ages ago by someone I know; a working class scoucer girl who I love btw.

Yes that's right. So what? Are you trying to sya I'm boring, middle of the road, posh?

I wouldn't dream of saying to someone; ''oh your soooo working class!'' (mainly through fear of being twatted with a copy of The Sun!''

BTW; I jest about The Sun bit as it is a horrible stereotype.

Its used a lot as an insult. Which is ridiculous. Why is that a bad thing? If you are, you are...so what?

I refuse to recognise class, it's a load of bollocks in my opinion. People are just people to me.

most people who declare themselves working class are really middle class, they just don't want to admit it because they think working class is cooler.

Middle anything is mocked though.
Middle aged, middle brow, middle of the road. seen as boring, neither fish nor fowl.

Yes people think it's a devastating insult for some reason.
And on here people are very quick to say "ooh I'm NOT middle class" because it's true that working class is seen as more real somehow.
Ah well.
Middle class and proud.

What is middle class nowadays because it certainly is not someone with a plum in their mouth anymore.

aaaah just found the definition was looking for, so really no better than working class when it comes to the type of person.

middle class implies those people who typically have had a good education, own a family house, and hold a managerial or professional post

Lots of people be a cross I think, any job I would hold would be classed as Middle Class, however I had a working class background and live in rented accomodation

More likely the other way round IMO. Middle-class to me is doctors, solicitors, architects etc. Working in an office does not automatically make you middle class.

Working class though is classed as manual labour.

HOwever, considering the amount a plumber earns I think that is an insult to plumbers.

The girl who said it to me is lovely though and training to be a teacher (considered a middle class profession) She meant it in jest but some people say it as a put down if they are jealous.

I have never before been on any site that mentioned class so much, I thought it was thing of the past this class divide something from the early 1900's

It is amazing that some are so far up their own arse they have to mention class on an internet forum.

But hey. Whatever floats their stuck up boats.

many people will say they are working class 'because my dad was a miner' etc. you can be middle class and not be a doctor or architect.

any term that attempts to define a group of people can be used as an insult by people who do not identify with that group.
