To think that some people use the term ''middle class'' as an insult?

''Oh your sooooo middle class'' has been said to me ages ago by someone I know; a working class scoucer girl who I love btw.

Yes that's right. So what? Are you trying to sya I'm boring, middle of the road, posh?

I wouldn't dream of saying to someone; ''oh your soooo working class!'' (mainly through fear of being twatted with a copy of The Sun!''

BTW; I jest about The Sun bit as it is a horrible stereotype.

I have never heard/seen anyone identify themselves as middle class. I have, however, seen people use it as some sort of insult.

I fulfill every criteria for middle class but am from a working class background.

I have used it to describe others but inan insulting way at all.

ENormaSnob · 08/01/2011 18:06

NOT in an insulting way Blush

SkyBluePearl · 08/01/2011 18:28

hardly any real working class people around these days - most are middle

I'm routinely insulted for being a posho/middle-class on he football pitch and it doesn't bother me, in fact it normall winds them up more because I will then play up to it and say something stereotypically posh and push my accent before I return the compliment and call them working class scum or something just to wind them up.
Away from that I'm only ever slagged over my accent in jest in which case you just laugh and slag them back.

It's only the middle class that seem to care about class.

It is used as an insult for some unknown reason. I caught my mum doing something (can't remember what) and when I pulled her up on it, she said "Oh that's so middle class." "But Mum, you are middle class," I said. What's the big deal? They are just normal people with normal jobs leading normal lives in a normal house with a normal car. So what?
