Women who smoke when pregnant are selfish, irresponsible fuckwits

MsKLo · 08/01/2011 00:13

...and so are parents who smoke around their babies/children. I see soooooo many parents pushing prams and smoking or driving and smoking with babies in their car seats etc.

And the number of times I have seen pregnant women having a fag...

Selfish, irresponsible fuckwits

And for the record, I am an ex smoker. I LOVED smoking but stopped before I starte trying for a baby as it was, and is not, fair to inflict my selfish habit on my babies.

God Leonie that was another unpleasant post

ladysybil · 08/01/2011 15:31

leonie, a post you further down, yousaid, take care of the environment you give your babies during prengnancy. that is exactly the point why sometimes, continueing to smoke may be less harmful than giving it up and releasing all sorts of stress hormones into your babies gestational environment. there is only so much protection the placenta can give the fetus against maternal stress.

wukter -thank you for sympathy on my losses,it is noted and appreciated. However I am sticking to my guns that smoking during pregnancy is vile and selfish. You cite other polutants such as exhaust fumes as a possible hazard to unborn babies.dcs. You are absolutely right but these things are in general unavoidable. you made a choice to smoke(yes maybe it is an addiction but addictions can be over come) and therefore took away the choice from your unborn dc.I was a small baby because my mum smoked when she was pregnant with me-that is a medical fact. I in turn gave birth to a small baby(although never smoked/drank during pregnancy) because of this(so therefore it not only effects the immediate child but also possibly future generations.)
In answer to the post that giving up smoking makes you really really ill-bollocks!! as I have said every member of my family was a smoker. They have all given up at some point(for years at a time in some cases) and suffered virtually no side effects(apart from being grumpy twatsWink. In fact the only reason both my mum and sister started smoking again was because they put on weightShock.
So I will repeat myself-stop being so selfish and imposing your chosen(noone forced you to light up) habit on your unborn dcs.END OF.

wukter · 08/01/2011 15:39

Well it's the beliefs of a womans' own medical professional that matter here, not yours, if belief is what it comes down to.

oh no there's that buzzword again!

Pink4ever get over the judgemental shite. look after your own let others look after theirs END OF.

preghead · 08/01/2011 15:41

I see this has already kicked off but I too am an ex-smoker who completely agrees with original sentiment.

Good luck to all trying to give before trying for a baby.

People who fail to see beyond black and white, or don't understand human nature, the possibility of failure, nuances do come across as rather stupid.

pink4ever · 08/01/2011 15:47

Yes I am judging you wutner because you are not solely responsible for yourself(I couldnt give a rats arse if you smoked yourself silly) but you are imposing your selfish behaviour on a dc who has no choice or right or reply. So yes I will say it again for those who appear to have missed it-if you smoke during pregnancy I will judge you and think you are a selfish twat. Am I god-nope? but I am an adult who takes responsibility for my behaviour and doesnt try to blame others(boo hoo I cant help it-Im addicted wah wah wah.)

Excuse me? Are you always this rude? Every time I see you post it is something nasty. I wonder about your stress levels OP, you could do with calming down a bit.

tethersend · 08/01/2011 15:49

I think she should take up smoking again, loopy.

tethersend · 08/01/2011 15:50

Or perhaps some crack?

pink4ever · 08/01/2011 15:50

As an after thought-having to walk by mothers smoking and share a ward with heroin addicted mothers, yes I judged them. I judged them when they walked out of hospital with their heathly babies and mine were in the mortuary. bitter and twisted-yes probably.Do I care? couldnt give a flying feck.

usualsuspect · 08/01/2011 15:50

She needs some of my special baccy I reckon

LoopyLoopsIsNoLongerFestive · 08/01/2011 15:51

I think she needs something a little stronger. Or perhaps more serious intervention to be honest.

MsKLo · 08/01/2011 15:51

Must be your sanctimonious tone loopy always gets me goIng

Well, despite what we all think about your low mental capacity, at least we're all sure you know at least one long word. Well done, your teacher must be proud. Three gold stars. :)

MsKLo · 08/01/2011 15:53

You are not bitter and twisted pink4ever
