to wonder if all mothers/parents REALLY think that their child/ren are beautiful?

This is a follow-on thread from the 'parents boasting' thread I started earlier tonight...

I was wondering if parents (especially mothers) really do think their babies are the most beautiful? I don't mean loving them and accepting them for who they are but that all out 'my incredible child could win beauty competitions' type of adoration.

Or does any parent look at their child and think 'good job s/he has a great personality' Grin

Just wondering....

Obviously, I think my kids are adorable, but I know, objectively, that DS is genuinely, jaw-droppingly, heartbreakingly gorgeous (he gets ridiculous amounts of attention for his looks, the little would-be-Romeo).

DD is more the 'cute' type. She is stocky and has a funny, naturally grumpy little face. She is very sweet, but no stunner.

I come from the opposite angle - when dd was born I was vaguely underwhelmed by her looks, she seemed to me slightly whey-faced and not that attractive but at least she didn't have any grotesque features or that awful squashed up look (thank you c-section!).
But I have found she's growing prettier by the year and think she is a gorgeous child - she's 4 now. Plus, when I look back on the baby pictures she wasn't actually as ugly as I thought. So that's a bonus Grin.
