I'm guessing it's due to name changing, but it's darn annoying I can't nosy on people!

I love profiles. Purely because i am a nosy cow
Grin

Lamorna · 05/01/2011 20:54

I wouldn't post if I had a profile. I never ever think to look at them.

OpenToLawSuits · 05/01/2011 20:54

I just can't put photos on mine, there's some sort of technical error beyond my comprehension.

CuppaTeaJanice · 05/01/2011 20:57

Once you've done a few posts about bumsex, flatulence, quim jelly and dragonbutter, and revealed the intimate details of your muff hairstyle to the world of MN, it seems less appealing to then let them see photos of your grinning mug on a profile!!! Grin

But yes, I'm nosy too - I've been known to have a quick mooshtie round a few profiles!!!

A lot of people use MN because it's anonymous unlike netmums

OpenToLawSuits · 05/01/2011 20:58

Ha ha ha! Ahh dragon butter and pubic hair. I see your point. Still aside from photos, I'd like to know SOMETHING about some of the parents. I'm not a curtain twitch-er so I have to get my kicks elsewhere.

ILoveItWhenYouCallMeBoo · 05/01/2011 20:59

i am so glad there are no profiles!! especially when posting about my preferred style of pubic hair. Grin

OpenToLawSuits · 05/01/2011 20:59

Beer are you implying I am no really interesting?

OP posts:
onceamai · 05/01/2011 21:03

Because it's a wonderful haven of anonymity and the only place in the world where I can say what I think and not worry about it.

But surely adding your favourite books or how many kiddies you have isn't really going to identify you?

Hmmm

Beer, only because I can't work the bloody thing!

Hassled · 05/01/2011 21:05

I have one. It used to have way way waaaay too much info (does anyone really care about my favourite books?) and now it tells you just about nothing. Although I do have a photo of my favourite cat looking particularly handsome.

Spidermama · 05/01/2011 21:06

I agree with Beertricks that profiles ruin the mystique.

If I had profile details up I'd be more guarded and would feel the need to filter what I say, which would be just like real life. I like the anonymity. I never look at anyone else's profile. I'm only interested in their posts as they relate to the posts of others.

This, for me, is what makes MN.

AnyFucker · 05/01/2011 21:08

I never look at profiles and have never had one

Just as well, I would get sacked from my job if it wasn't (relatively, if not completely) anonymous Grin

Lamorna · 05/01/2011 21:09

If I had a profile I would have to be very diplomatic and bland.e.g. I could hardly say that I thought Hector a dire name for a boy, when I had just told a neighbour that I thought it 'suited her DS'!

pagwatch · 05/01/2011 21:09

So it is me you are calling uninteresting huh beer..

I was sucking up to you recently too.

Very occasionally I look at profiles. I like them for other people, but I like anonymity for myself Grin.

I don't do facebook or anything, I like to be private me, MN is as unprivate as I get.

gibbergabber · 05/01/2011 21:13

I used to have one, still do under my normal name but it's much less detailed these days and I've started to cganhe my name more regularly. For me the turning point was the close link with the Daily Mail that existed sometime ago, and the fact that MN is much quoted in the press these days. I don't want to have my profile viewed by all and sundry and my past posting history up for scrutiny thank you very much.

Not that I expect anyone is that interested in what I post.

pagwatch · 05/01/2011 21:14

[somewhat mollified by sucking up to penis dog]

DanceInTheDark · 05/01/2011 21:14

I am always a bit Hmm at the people who have masses and masses of info. What on earth is so great about your 17 favourite books/8 fave TV programmes?

happybubblebrain · 05/01/2011 21:16

My profile is there for all to see because I live a very boring life. I sometimes wish I had something to hide. Snoop away.
