I am not an only child but I talk to myself too!

Lucyintheskywithdiazepam · 06/01/2011 11:53

I'm loving this thread...It's fascinating foranosycowlikeme--. And I've thought of more...

  1. 3 (count 'em) of my ex boyfriends are now fully paid-up card carrying gays. I'm still friends with them all (and their respective partners)
  1. I'm another one with a high IQ (152) that didn't do anything spectacular with it. All those teachers who said that I had trouble applying myself were right.
  1. I cocked up spectacularly in the first week working for my current employer. But I covered it up so well that no-one has ever found out and I've been promoted many times, being one of the youngest people at my grade in the whole organisation (that high IQ comes in handy on occasions Wink

  1. I was expected to die at birth; instead I have a PhD on the thing that nearly killed me.
  1. My only allergy is to antihistamines. Yes, anti-allergy pills. I found this out when I once took them thinking I had hayfever.
  1. I have slept in the same bed as one of the most senior members of the Royal Family.
NorwegianMoon · 06/01/2011 12:00

oooh muira which member?

OP posts:
Muira · 06/01/2011 12:06

I can't say! Sorry, I know, I hate it when others leave cryptic ones!

stillbobbysgirl · 06/01/2011 12:07

slept in same bed as royal AT SAME TIME?!

Fortress · 06/01/2011 12:12

I have a 1st class honours degree

I've had a personal letter from the queen

I'm a Christian and speak in tongues daily

I woke up in the middle of the night at my mil's house once to see a young boy standing over the bed staring at me. A ghost. His face was souless.

Sorry that's 4 Grin

Muira · 06/01/2011 12:13

Well done, stillbobbysgirl, I was being naughty.

No! We have a mutual relative - I'm not royal or even nearly, nor posh - and I stayed over at their house unexpectedly when said royal had just departed. I got his bed and was told afterwards that the sheets weren't changed (I think they were joking!). One of the young ones...

K12Mom · 06/01/2011 12:15

What exactly is 'speaking in tongues', Fortress? I've wondered this since I was a child...

It's speaking directly from my soul to god. It's a gift from the holy spirit.
I feel lifted when I do, I don't audible understand the language but I may have words or pictures which come into my head when I do it. I do it also under my breath whenever I need to... At work, when I'm stressed about something etc :)

rockinhippy · 06/01/2011 12:24

I'll add some more too Grin

I've gogo danced, half naked in a cage, on the bar of a well known 80s Gay club.

my Gay best friend & DDs GodFather, was my childhood (onwards into my early 20s)sweetheart, & my Mum still blames ME for him now being Gay Confused

I was once centerfold as a Dominatrix in a Fetish Magazine & actually got fan mail Grin

jenniferturkington · 06/01/2011 12:36

Great thread, mine are nowhere near as interesting as others, but anyway...

I have scored a hatrick at Wembley.
I was talking to my now DH on the telephone when the first plane hit the trade centre. He was is NYC and I was in Manchester, I told him what had happened and he opened the curtains and said 'oh yes I can see smoke' Shock He was across the river so safe luckily.
I got all B grades at GCSE and A level.

FlorenceAndTheMachine · 06/01/2011 13:07

Not sure people would never know these things, but probably not on first meeting anyway

  1. I won prizes for my professional exams
  2. I have a long history of depression
  3. I am having bad relationship problems at the moment
FlorenceAndTheMachine · 06/01/2011 13:08

Not entriely sure those facts are quite in keeping with the rest of this thread but might as well join in Smile

Crombeth · 06/01/2011 13:10

This is such a great thread, mine are -

  1. My father, an American, died in the Vietnam war a few months before I was born (I was brought up by my lovely stepdad).
  2. I've had sex with my cousin, who was also the lead singer in a not very famous band in the 80's - although they did appear on TOTP once. 3)I have two degrees, but have alot of problems with spelling.
nowanewme · 06/01/2011 13:13
  1. I Very secretly think that the reason my daughter cant seem to get to sleep at night is that we have a ghost who talks and plays with her. (I know, I know I am a weirdo)

  2. I learnt about football when I was 13 just so I could chat with boys. People still think I am a LOT more interested than I actually am.

  3. I wish I had become a primary school teacher, like I had always wanted too, instead of the job I am doing now (Which I am paid far too much for a career change to be viable)

mrsoliverramsay · 06/01/2011 13:13

I am addicted to crisps- I can't have them in my house anymore

A couple of years ago I was lying on bed with my eyes closed waiting on my DH when I suddenly couldn't move and felt myself floating. I tried to fight it and then in an instant I was back to normal. I told my DH and he didn't believe me. I will never forget it

I have saw a ghost and I have felt the ghost of my childhood dog lying on me but, again, no one believes me

meantosay · 06/01/2011 13:16

I have a twin brother

My parents and my DHs parents have the same christian names

My older sister is a very well known actress

NorwegianMoon · 06/01/2011 13:21

3 more!

I teach English and have a phobia of saying or hearing the words anonymous, anonymity, anemone, animosity....any word with ns and ms. They freak me out.

I have a constant running commentary in my head as though I'm actually reading a book and observing my life.

I have an obsession with non-traditional seating solutions (hanging chairs, beanbags etc) and constantly plot to get rid of our actual lounge suite.

meantosay · 06/01/2011 13:23

Can't say as I will'out' myself.

hellymelly · 06/01/2011 13:31

jetsemum, what a relief! Although still horrible for you, obv. For some reason I thought the baby must have been dead,to be lying in the road.
