I know I am In fact being unreasonable, but a new girl at work has spent the whole day referring to 'my hubby and I...'

Why 'hubby', why not 'husband' !? Same number of syllables. Aghhh.

I used to work with somebody who always referred to "her other half". It drove me nuts.

Yes, I know it's probably unreasonable, but I also loathe the expression 'hubby'. Unreservedly. Along with 'other half', or 'better half'.

Makes me cringe when I hear "My hubby". So IMO, you are not being unreasonable.

Someone I used to work with refers to her 'fabby hubby' and her 'fabby mummy'. I cringe everytime I think about it.

Oh Cocoa - I thought it was just me. I loathe the word 'hubby', for no particular reason really. And 'pics' instead of 'pictures'. I know it has less syllables but still hate it.

Yup, "hubby" is right up there in the yuck stakes along with people who refer to their children as "my li'l man" or "princess" and call their friends "Hun".

I prefer other half to 'partner'...I don't know why but it always makes me think of a business arrangement or little kids going on a school outing lol

I have no prob with hubby - I used to call mine 'fuckface'.

I don't like partner either, but girlfriend or boyfriend sounds wrong also, especially if you are over 25.
Hubby doesn't bother me, but I do refer to DH by his name normally. Except with people I don't know, then it would be husband, not hubby. DH calls me 'our lass', not my wife. Which I don't mind.

That said, I call my XDH Thrush which suits him perfectly.

Whilst I also dislike cutesy stuff, I do use "hubby" at times - though obviously not here. But in my defence, I think my use dates back a long, long time ago (I am ancient) to when the grammatically correct way of referring to oneself in the context of the marital connection was "my husband and I", which of course is rather Queeny. To maintain grammatical correctness, while interjecting a note of informality, "hubby and I" worked very well.

Terms such as "mummy" (unless uttered by a young'n) or "preggers" (uttered by anyone) are, of course, to be deprecated.

My (male) boss referred to my pregnancy/maternity leave as podding

Referrring to some of my tasks He used to say "While you're off podding, who will be dealing with this"

This made me boak....I bit my lip and stared through him!

What kind of term is podding!? It sounds pretty gross...
