I know I am In fact being unreasonable, but a new girl at work has spent the whole day referring to 'my hubby and I...'

Why 'hubby', why not 'husband' !? Same number of syllables. Aghhh.

'Podding'? That's a new one on me.

So, if this lady ever comes into the office and says, 'Hi hun, hubby and I are preggers'. No, YOU are he is not. 'I shall be podding in August and become a yummy mummy,' I will smile sweetly...but then report it on here Wink

If that lady ever said that to me I'd be smiling through extremely gritted teeth.

Boak.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 04/01/2011 20:57

I loathe the term hubby, it makes me shiver whenever I hear it.

memphis83 · 04/01/2011 21:01

its not a word but a statement i hate it when people say we're pregnant!! freaks me out!!

ShoppingDays · 04/01/2011 21:01

Other half is OK. Don't like "hubby" though!

arentfanny · 04/01/2011 21:03

Hate it. Hate it when i read it on here. Makes me cringe and throw up all at the same time.

BonzoDooDah · 04/01/2011 21:08

Don't mind it - do use it.

What I hate hate hate though is "The Wife" AAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ... If I hear another jumped up squirt at work referring to their wife as that I swear I may not be able to hold it in.

MamaVoo · 04/01/2011 21:12

I know a couple who refer to each other as hubby and wifey Shock

WiiUnfit · 04/01/2011 21:14

Ooh agreed with the "we're pregnant" bit, I almost accidently said it when telling my parents our news, quickly recovered though - "we're p... [cringe] having a baby!"

Not keen on "The Wife" but strangely don't mind "The Mrs", definitely better than "The Ball & Chain"...

KatieScarlett2833 · 04/01/2011 21:16

I call mine bawjaws.

aimingforthesky · 04/01/2011 21:36

I get called 'kid' by Dh. He is 5 yrs older and known him since I was 16 but am near 45 now - this has always annoyed me but he is oblivious to my reminders that I have an actual name I would like him to use.

Go · 04/01/2011 21:38

Bonzo my DH calls me The Wife - to my face! a la Harry Enfield's barman character Les. I find it quite funny. To everyone else he refers to me as 'er indoors [sigh].

WiiUnfit · 04/01/2011 21:44

That sounds quite patronising afts, how subtle are your reminders?

Go, I've heard people refer to their wives / girlfriends as "'er indoors", personally would not float my boat!

babeinthewood · 04/01/2011 21:57

I think my DH calls me by my name to other people Hmm but then Ill never really know because Im not there!

he always calls me sweetheart or sweet pea or pickle to my face and he always gets called 'ginge' by me (surname is ginger, it just stuck!) I do use hubby alot though Blush only because I dont like the other phrases out there and Im not original enough to make up my own Confused
