It's been up for weeks. It looks rubbish, most of the baubles are off due to the cats or DS pulling them off.

I just can't be arsed to wait the 12 days to take it down!

DH thinks I'm being a scrooge, bah humbug.

Yabu.

This happens every year.

Silly people get over-excited and put their Christmas tree up too early and then get fed up and take it down too early.

Its as idiotic as saying, well most people celebrate Valentines day on 14th February but I insist on being ahead of the game so we're going to have our Valentines day on 1st February.

Try living in the moment, fgs.

Nothing to do with putting it up too early here.

Our tree goes up around the 21st / 22nd December and normally comes down on New Year's Eve. I hate waking up in the New Year with 'last years' tree still up.
We treat ourselves to a nice potted plant instead, or to a huge bunch of flowers so the house looks fresh and not so bare Smile

Can't say YABU as its your home so your choice, However, I do feel that there are 12 days of xmas. People puts up tree and decs too early and take them down too early. Shops are filled with Xmas stuff before the children are back in school and Easter stuff appeared in shops on 28th December! Crazy.

All areas clear of Christmas tat

Am feeling calm and serene Grin

Our tree goes up on about the 18th December (end of term) and then down on NYE.

It's realnand wouldn't last massively long and I like o get sorted for a fresh new year. Tend to leave the window lights up until later - theyre so pretty and don't take yp precious space!

dementedma · 01/01/2011 20:22

tree down today and all back to normal, thankfully. I enjoy Christmas but am glad to see the back of it.

MsVelvet · 01/01/2011 22:01

i took mine down on boxing day, the sight of all the mess and toys coupled with a messy tree was just too much for my eyes..

CheekyLittleStocking · 02/01/2011 20:08

Mine came down on thursday as i wanted my room back to normal.

Trubert · 02/01/2011 20:15

I understand the 12 days of Christmas point of view. And I certainly don't like to put the tree up too early.

But once we're all back at school/work, it doesn't really feel like Christmas any more, does it?

I too like to get my lounge sitting room back to normal once the holidays are over.

mumeeee · 02/01/2011 20:41

YABU. Ours didn't go up until anout the 18th December and it won't be taken down until the 6th January nor will the other decorations.
