Have just seen another thread... apologies. (I did have a quick nose before I posted but I didn't see it then!)

I gave up a year or two ago...cold turkey?

MsFox · 31/12/2010 21:52

I'm done with it now.

FabbyChic · 31/12/2010 21:53

Ive not watched for ages - what happened?

MsFox · 31/12/2010 22:01

2 babies born.

One baby - SID.

Babies get swapped.

Is the basic gist. I feel bad typing it out.

FabbyChic · 31/12/2010 22:04

One of these days they make it like real life and have good things happening too, thing is they never do, it's just constant shit so I gave up watching over a year or so ago.

hottiemamma · 31/12/2010 22:04

It's not real you know! It's NOT REAL!!!

MsFox · 31/12/2010 22:05

Thats what I've just come to realise! Each recent episode has just got worse and worse.

Trouble is, DH gets to do the 'told you so' if I give up on it.

What's Estenders? Grin

Haven't watched it for about 5yrs.

MsFox · 31/12/2010 22:07

Oh really?! I'll stick with it then as it's only fiction...

It's turning into a bit of a misery memoir for the tele, isn't it?!

Yes PPH a supposed serious one, I have 4 children but very nearly died at the hands of a PPH after my first, kind of really
put a shitter on my night tbh.....

Sorry about your loss x

I know how you feel I felt utterly shit and kind of still do tbh. How depressing for NYE.

natknickersinatwist · 31/12/2010 23:30

YANBU..

It really touched a nerve with me tonight.

I have never been through losing a born child, i really pray i dont have to go through it. How can they possibly think they can capture the true reaction of a mother?

IMO they have made it look like a mother turns crazy because of the loss.

I dont think they have done the right thing in showing that to be honest. I dont think they can say its to raise awareness because there is plenty awareness of SIDs from the moment you are pregnant etc.

I think i will complain aswell to be honest.

MsKLo · 01/01/2011 00:31

LunaticFringe I am very sorry for your loss

Eastenders writers and producers should be totally ashamed of themselves - the baby swop element of it is just ridiculous and I just hope hope they lose loads of viewers because of it. It us insulting to all mothers who have experienced this loss to suggest that is what they could do. This storyline is so wrong

Stupid programme

classydiva · 01/01/2011 00:34

Watched it, I dont think she get away with taking the baby.

It is pretty sick though.

gillybean2 · 01/01/2011 00:34

Gave it up (along with all soaps) 13 years ago. Almost got sucked back i a couple of years ago, but I resisted!

daisy5678 · 01/01/2011 00:37

Yes. YABU. It's fiction, FFS. In Corrie, I imagine people whose loved-ones have died in train /tram accidents had memories stirred up, but if soaps did nothing dramatic, who would watch them? And the baby-swap thing is not exactly making a generalisation of 'that's what women whose babies die do'. It's showing Ronnie (who is a little unhinged anyway, if we're being honest) doing something. No more, no less. And they aren't real.

It's fiction.

It's not real.

All Muslim boys called Sayid aren't gay.

All men called Ian Beale aren't nasty little rodents.

It's fiction.

MsKLo · 01/01/2011 00:38

But that's the thing classydiva, she does get away with it, this pathetic story is going to run for a while! I feel stupid staying this but it had really made me madddd!

LittleMissHootsMon · 01/01/2011 00:42

I gave up soaps in 2006... Used to HATE EE but couldn't help watching it...

Actively avoid it now. Thank God, sounds more ridiculous and depressing than it was then!

SlartyBartFast · 01/01/2011 00:46

actively avoided it tonoght, though dd was champing at the bit and has demanded to see it tomorrow. the trailer tells her she has to apparently Hmm

MsKLo · 01/01/2011 00:54

You are right giveme it is fiction which is why I am so bloomin' annoyed with myself for being annoyed about it!

working9while5 · 01/01/2011 00:57

I don't give a flying fuck if it's fiction, it's sensationalist misery memoir bullshit rolled out over the festive period to boost ratings.

Raising awareness my hat. Show me a mother who hasn't sat over a newborn prodding them to make sure they're still breathing. Very few people are going to suddenly go: "oh, cot death? That's something that can happen?" and if they did, it wouldn't stop this tragedy from happening. It's not drink driving. You could take all the precautions in the world and have read every single academic article going on cot death and still lose your child to this monster.

Nasty, trite storyline that dehumanises the bereaved.
