I have had a succession of 20 quid vacuum cleaners for years ....... I got fed up and bought a decent one!! I am soo excited! it is so powerful it lifts the carpet up off the floor!!!!

(sad or what?)

This is it

Old fashioned I know but it is such a brilliant thing! we have a 4 bedroomed house and I just plugged it in in the back bedroom and hoovered the whole upstairs and down to the bottom of the stairs before I ran out of slack! Just about to shampoo my carpets with it now!

No YANBU (but don't love it too much!)

on a similar vein My adored purchase of the year was an electric garage door. The old manual one collapsed and fell off in march and it was a bit of an investment going electric - it's sad that it makes me so happy (and in our house you can't even walk from the garage into the house, but I don't care)

The best ever Vacuum is a Dyson

TheManWhoSoldtheWorld · 31/12/2010 13:15

Oh I hate my Dyson at the moment. I have hated it now for about a year. I am very tempted to save up and get a Miele.

TheArmadillo · 31/12/2010 13:17

I felt the same about my dyson when I got it. It's still so nice to have a vaccuum that picks up dust/dirt instead of just moving it around like our old machine.

lazarusinNazareth · 31/12/2010 13:18

Are you Barbara Royle? Grin Have you hoovered up Mary?!

DorisVinyard · 31/12/2010 13:28

I love my Henry 'tis the best - had a Dyson for a few years and remained unimpressed.

AuldLangMammaries · 31/12/2010 13:33

we had a dyson DC01 when they first came out .... absolute crap in my opinion ..... I dislike uprights in any case cos they all fall over when you use the hose!

Henrys are good and it was a toss up between the vax or a George (also by Numatic) but I am pleased with my Vax - it is the best vacuum in the world!

SixtyFootDoll · 31/12/2010 13:38

I have had a HEnry and a Dyson, didnt like either of them.
Now have a hoover hurricane which is shite.
Am goint to save for a Miele now.

TheManWhoSoldtheWorld · 31/12/2010 14:04

My Mum and SD have a Miele - it literally lifts their rugs up it is so strong. I heart them.

I have had three Dysons and find they lose suction after the warranty is up.

Scootergrrrl · 31/12/2010 14:13

Have just looked at this on Amazon - also need a new one - and it's 56% off. £69.99 instead of £159.99, if anyone's really wanting one!

mollymole · 31/12/2010 14:32

my henry is ace - after having dyson, hoover etc it was a revelation !!!!!

effymeffy · 31/12/2010 14:34

SmokinSanta · 31/12/2010 14:36

I love my Miele. Looked at the Henrys but they are too heavy for me. I adore my Miele, its my second one and I wouldnt go for any other brand now.

SantaPawz · 31/12/2010 14:42

I got a Hetty (pink version fo Henry) just before Xmas. I adore her! and she comes with the added benefit of being pretty so DD like to use her! (tbf DD is 4 so I have to go behind her but she is very very cute)

AuldLangMammaries · 31/12/2010 15:39

@Scootergrrrl which one are you talking about?

OP posts:
Jins · 31/12/2010 16:12

I've got a Henry. It's OK I guess but if I run the Dyson over afterwards it's amazing what Henry leaves behind.

The Vax you bought is great OP. I really miss mine

AuldLangMammaries · 31/12/2010 16:15

I just shampoo'ed all the carpets in the house AND cleaned the hard floors in the house with it! ...... now I am going to have a few bottles of wine

that hard floor attachment is tops isn't it?

jonicomelately · 31/12/2010 16:18

I recently got a new hoover. It's crap. I didn't realise how pissed off that would make me feel.
