I have had a succession of 20 quid vacuum cleaners for years ....... I got fed up and bought a decent one!! I am soo excited! it is so powerful it lifts the carpet up off the floor!!!!

(sad or what?)

I just realised that I could make my carpets look better in less time by sweeping them with a medium brush ....... then thought, hang on! this isn't quite right

Lol,yanbu, I'm in love with my Miele washing machine, over a year old and I'm still infatuated. I particularly love it's soak function, combined with vanish powder gets out all babyfood stains!
Have to say though I prefer my Roomba vacum, it hoovers for me!Grin

Although we do have to do stairs and landing ourselves. It tries to commit suicide off the landing where the carpet slopes to wood then drops off. very funny as it actually has a panic beep alert when it's precariously balanced on the edge.

Scootergrrrl · 31/12/2010 16:29

The Amazon one is the same one as in your original link. The 3 in 1 Hoover/washer/cleaner up of spills.

icantbelieveimnotbitter · 31/12/2010 16:31

i've got a Miele washing machine, how have i never worked out it's got a soak function..how do i do that? could have saved many pairs of white socks!
However, on my second Dyson and they are crappity crap. (might help if i acutally cleaned the filter though),

theevildead2 · 31/12/2010 16:33

I was in love with my Dyson Animal when I got it. In the end it turned out just to be a vaccuum. Like any relationship when the initial lust dies off then you know if it is really love or not.

fiveisanawfullybignumber · 31/12/2010 16:35

icant, mine has a soak button, press once for soak, twice for prewash, thriceGrin for a short wash.

icantbelieveimnotbitter · 31/12/2010 16:42

have been to investigate - prewash button on it but no soak button. Bugger. Hope dashed. Still, looking up, it just made me empty it of wet washing Grin

Carrotsandcelery · 31/12/2010 16:43

I loathe my Dyson with passion - it is complete and utter rubbish. I don't know what I am getting wrong but I just don't understand what everyone sees in them. The ball function is great but it doesn't pick anything up!
We had a Seebo for 15 years before the Dyson and I am still tempted to get it out of the garage and see if it can be coaxed back to life.
Please explain to me what I am missing about the Dyson.
As someone else said I had no idea how miserable a rubbish hoover would make me. Xmas Sad

Scootergrrrl · 31/12/2010 16:46

Here you go OP

Actually, not much use to you cos you've already got one! Anyone else maybe.

HSMM · 31/12/2010 16:47

I loved my Henry, then DH thoughtfully sold it and bought me a 'better' one Angry.

Now he does the hoovering Grin.

(going to sneak off and buy myself another Henry one day)

AuldLangMammaries · 31/12/2010 16:48

I paid a bit more than that but I got a load of extras including a hard floor thingy and 12 bottles of shampoo

SpringHeeledJack · 31/12/2010 16:48

can't believe am marking my place on this thread on NYE

...the things I do to avoid cleaning the bathroom

Shock
fiveisanawfullybignumber · 31/12/2010 16:49

Sorry to have got your hopes up there icant.
Have to say again, get a vacum that does it for you. We let ours out to play when we go to bed at night, he does the whole of downstairs.Grin We have a bog standard electrolux for the stairs etc.

AuldLangMammaries · 31/12/2010 16:56

oh yeah ..... I've got a robotic hoover in the cupboard ..... used twice, very entertaining but completely useless as a vacuum! I was so excited when it came .... oh how disappointing life can be.

OP posts:
theevildead2 · 31/12/2010 17:12

I'd like a robot butler

Jackin · 31/12/2010 17:21

We bought a Henry after years of 'cheap' hoovers. Because I thought it was worth spending on it. Fil has a henry that is about 20 yrs old and it only has a little less suction than ours! For a large part of it's life it was used to clean their resturant so it's really earnt it's money.

Jins · 31/12/2010 17:32

Maybe all you Henry lovers can help me feel a little better about mine...

How do you stop the hose wobbling? I fit the two bits together and after using it for a while the hos wobbles away at the join and drives me nuts.

If it didn't wobble I could maybe learn to cope with the poorer than hoped for performance

WhatsWrongWithYou · 31/12/2010 18:14

Right I need to ask about this hard floor cleaning attachment.

Would it cope with an uneven slate floor, and does it suck up the dirty water?

I've recently stupidly bought a Dyson and it's crap in so many ways - too bulky to fit in small spaces so you keep having to unreel the hose, ditto the edges, plus it doesn't pick up anything bigger than a weightless speck of dust. Leaves crumbs everywhere.

Furball · 31/12/2010 18:26

it's this attachment here

Tis great for hard floors. I'm not sure about uneven floors though. I use it on my wood floors. and yes it sucks up the dirty water

clumsymumluckybaby · 31/12/2010 18:52

oh my god,op, i want this hoover far more than is possibly reasonable...

ours is utter shite.

...and it has a cleaning function you say?! does it get out stains?felt tip?pasta sauce?mud?

AuldLangMammaries · 31/12/2010 19:02

ha ha .... yeah it has a proper carpet and upholstry cleaner and it got a red wine stain out that I've been stuck with for 6 months! ....... you can't have mine thogh .... try littlewoods lol

OP posts:
clumsymumluckybaby · 31/12/2010 19:07

oh my oh my! we have several stains like that currently hidden under rugs Blush

oh i reeeeally want it now!

CarGirl · 31/12/2010 19:09

I love my miele.

The man told me the difference between the cheaper and more expensive models was manual versus electric controls - I went for manual, less to go wrong. I got the red pearl ltd edition as it was cheap and came with a 5 year guarantee.

Next time I replace my washing machine.....

LaurieFairyonthetreeEatsCake · 31/12/2010 19:13

We got a Hetty just before Christmas and it's been good so far (haven't changed the bag yet though)

To be honest I think I have loved every vacuum cleaner at the beginning - but they all get annoying/perform worse after a while.
