frozen roast potatoes are for emergencies not for Christmas day

I made a double chocolate baked cheese cake for Christmas with the in-laws - they didn't eat it and chose tesco value chocolate cake over my homemade dessert. I had to laugh - my dessert was yummy and dh and dd both ate mine. dh was horrified that his family were so rude and also by their taste buds.

I was alarmed when I went to the fridge on Christmas eve for dd's milk to see no sign of a Christmas dinner. My assumptions were correct - all from the freezer - even the veg including roast potatoes and yorkshire puddings to go with the Iceland roast pork and lamb.

Luckily, my aunt made a fab Christmas dinner on Monday so at least I've had real Christmas dinner.

Don't mean to sound snobby, but I come from a family that enjoys homemade food.

YABU. Frozen roast potatos and in fact the whole Christmas dinner being cooked from froazen is fine with me.
They probably don't like to spend the whole of Christmas morning in the Kitchen.
We have ben known to have cury for Christmas dier here and the kids all loved it.

gordyslovesheep · 03/01/2011 23:44

I got special M+S roasts for Christmas dinner this year - on New years Day I did another roast with good old Aunt Bessies

guess which got the most 'ohhhh yummy' comments

be thankful they fed you - if you where my DIL I'd be tempted to send you to the local Waitrose to buy your own

I can't believe how easily led I am - when doing my online shopping order for the week last night, I ordered both frozen yorkshire puddings and frozen roast potatoes in a small act of impotent defiance Blush

Sad Perhaps pink is very very large, like a giant, and needs oversized rooms. Still, we just won't invite her.

Grin Now you come to mention it I'm sure I've heard someone diss your kitchen and mention the stairs in it (are stairs beyond the pale then? Confused) before on MN. It must have been her, and she's clearly a little obsessed. Either that or I am hallucinating/having some kind of false memory syndrome.

FellatioNelson · 04/01/2011 17:01

I have the underside of some stairs in my kitchen. I feel so ashamed. I can't even afford proper stairs, and they are clearly bad enough. Sad

Just had to say: how on earth is it possible to not be able to make roast potatoes?

Was it actually a dinning room? Did it say that on the estate agent's details? Only some Estate Agents are shocking spellers, but you, LeQueen, as a rule, are not. I'm too polite to mention a little slip-up like that usually, only it has not escaped my attention that dinning rooms and dinning chairs are both common features of some people's homes. One look on ebay in the table and chair section proves this, if you are interested. At all.

And how in God's name did this person see your badly placed stairs?

Is she the postman?

There, there, darling.

My kitchen is extraordinarily tiny. I love my little galley, personally (I live in a cottage) but I can understand what a crushing blow has been dealt.

Here, dry those tears and feel superior. Then all will be right with the Mumsnet order again. :o
