I think lovely, that way aunt and partner could have a child that was genetically related to both of them - for the avoidance of doubt the aunts partner was the mother of the baby, not the aunt.

The sperm was donated to aunts partner not to his aunt if thats what you find distasteful existence. I think it was a wonderful gesture especially as he has since passed away and his parents now know and have the elgacy of his two children to enjoy and cherish.

The only thing I found a little uncomfortable was that he was just 15 when the first child was conceived but then I'm constantly amazed at how mature some teenagers are.

There are two beautiful, much wanted and loved children in the world thanks to him. A wonderful legacy for anyone to leave. His family should all be very proud.

His parents are pleased now because their son died and he has left behind two children. I think that's nice, although I'm not sure how I feel about the lady accepting sperm from a minor.

I'm sure that he should have had adult permission when he was under age. Even if it is legal, with permission, I don't think that a 15yr old should do it, they are far too young to understand the implications. It could be child abuse and I would be more than annoyed if someone used my son in that way, especially a relative.

They should have waited until the boy was older.

I can understand what your saying mumNWlondon but I think 15 is far to young to understand what it means to have a child that is biologically yours in the world.

No matter how desperate you are I don't think it's any excuse for taking advantage of someone who imo us still a child themselves.

If he was older and more mature I wouldn't see a problem with it (the aunt wasn't blood related to him is that correct)

X posts with loads while I looked at the article.

It makes a lot of sense for a male relative of the non-pregnant partner to provide the sperm. They will be involved in the baby's life, there will be a genetic connection to the second mother, the child will know about any genetic conditions in the family.

But 15 is possibly too young to give proper consent and understand the implications of becoming a parent.

Yes, 15 is quite young and perhaps the aunt shouldn't have agreed, but as he kept it a secret he was obviously quite mature. Also it wasn't as if he had to take any responsibility for the children, not like getting your girlfriend pregnant.

Meanwhile it was all for the best, as he tragically died after a routine hernia operation, and so now he has left a legacy of 2 wonderful much wanted children. His parents now are glad he did it, although no doubt they'd have been furious if they'd found out otherwise.

Yes he donated sperm to the aunt's partner.

So both the aunt and the partner are genetically connected to the children.

The mum of the 15 YO posted her view:

"The above article is about my son and he was 16 plus we are very very proud of what he did. It was a terrible shock when he died and we were heart broken. When we found out about the children we were shocked but over joyed we had something in the midst of our grief to hold onto. Charles could not be replaced but at least we have something from him, he was a son to be proud of and every one who met him loved him from old to young. He was very grounded and had a mind of his own so when we found out we were not shocked we only wish we had known when he was alive. We would have been fine with it because if Charles mind was made up you could not sway him. People may raise an eye brow but how would they feel if they were put in our place. We just thank ALL parties for giving us something when there was nothing and bringing a little light into our lives when there was only darkness."

well, he didn't donate it to the aunt, but to her partner and it was her partner that had the child. So he didn't have a baby with his aunt, which is what the title implies.

I think 15 is too young. I think that the aunt was quite selfish to allow her desire for a child to blind her to the fact that her nephew was only a child himself and it was not fair to a child to get him to father a baby when he would have legal responsibilities to that child that he was possibly too young to understand and therefore make an informed decision on. erm. iyswim.

However, according to the article he did it again when he was 18, so clearly something he was very committed to over a long period of time. What he did, no doubt he did because he loved his aunt.

Whether folks feel it was right or wrong or daft or just plain selfish, those children exist, and now his parents have 2 grandchildren. That may well be such a comfort to them.

The account of this that I read stated that he was 16 when he donated sperm the first time. This is when you can legally have sex (ie create a child), so what is the difference, really, between choosing to ejaculate into a fellow teenage girl, or into a cup? At least with the latter the baby is wanted by two, presumably responsible, adults.

I think if the poor boy hadn't died everyone would be up in arms about it.

I think he was far too young and his aunt should have waited until he was older.

Nevertheless it must be of great comfort to the poor boy's family and a lovely gesture for him to help his aunt like that.

A sperm donor can be made liable for child maintenance if done outside of official channels. I'm sure there was a recent case
