What is wrong with cheesecake or lemon meringue

Perhaps they love banoffee pie and can't stand cheesecake or lemon meringue? That's what makes life interesting, we don't all like the same things.

ByTheSea · 28/12/2010 19:56

I love Banoffee pie. Envy

gingernutlover · 28/12/2010 19:57

i took a banoffee pie to my mums on boxing day

she likes it, so do I and so did everyone else

maybe you have no taste Grin

i did check what she wanted me to bring though, that would seem polite.

GMajor7SwansASwimming · 28/12/2010 19:57

Eh? YABAT.

lovechoc · 28/12/2010 19:57

Hmm I thought it was Scottish creation? Could be wrong though...

OP - It's better than a kick in the teeth!

RudeEnglishLady · 28/12/2010 19:57

Send it to me Envy

louvert · 28/12/2010 19:58

My first thought at seeing your thread title was to ponder on what could possibly be better than Banoffee pie!

But yes, perhaps lemon meringue at a stretch.

Would expect anything in particular, though - just think it's generally kind if friends bring anything along with them.

arentfanny · 28/12/2010 19:58

Fuck off

RudeEnglishLady - I love your name.

dementedma · 28/12/2010 19:58

wouldn't like any of those as a dessert personally, but each to their own. Some people wouldn't have bothered to bring anything - be grateful.

FaffTastic · 28/12/2010 19:59

Would rather Banoffee than Lemon Meringue.

Was the Banoffee homemade? Not that it makes any difference in the larger scheme of things I suppose.

usualsuspect · 28/12/2010 19:59

They should have brought an arctic roll or a vienetta at the very least

TattyDevine · 28/12/2010 19:59

Banoffee is cats-bum-mouth sweet.

But I could spoon the base in to my hot and hungry gob so fast it would make the spincter on that cat cramp up in disbelief...

Not so keen on the topping.

hobbgoblin · 28/12/2010 19:59

I love all puddings. Banoffee would have been fine with me.

What would have pissed me off is a cheese board.

lovechoc · 28/12/2010 19:59

Have just googled, and I'm talking utter rubbish. It's an English creation.

If someone offered it to me right now though, I'd eat the whole thing. BFing makes me ravenous!

amidaiwish · 28/12/2010 20:00

was it £1 from Iceland?

if not, be grateful, people like different things. personally i quite like banofee pie esp if homemade and loverly...

tinselthechaffinch · 28/12/2010 20:00

DH tried some for the first time the other day and was surprised at how delicious he found it.

As an aside, on 'Countrywise'recently, a publican claimed the recipe was invented in his pub.

tinselthechaffinch · 28/12/2010 20:01

in Suffolk I meant to put.

If I invited people to my house for dinner, I would have already prepared a pudding. Do people leave courses blank for the guests to fill in?

LaurieFairyonthetreeEatsCake · 28/12/2010 20:04

You'd have been pissed off with a cheeseboard??????

Are you kidding?

I had the worlds best cheeseboard on Christmas Day - 8 different amazing cheeses plus home made quince jelly, chutney, dates and a selection of biscuits.

it was yummed up quicker than you could say "fark me, that's a tasty looking piece of Cropwell Bishop" Xmas Grin

splasheeny · 28/12/2010 20:04

Yabu

I think its nice!
