That's what I thought too! Hmmmm, jam...

norfolkBRONZEturkey · 23/12/2010 14:07

well I would

whats this from?

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 23/12/2010 14:08

oo - that sounds fab (the course - not the Sanctuary gift box - although Sanctuary stuff is nice........but you can get it on special offer very easily for yourself)

create · 23/12/2010 14:10

I say that every time the ad comes on!!

Would hate to receive any kind of "gift" set from DH. That 's what you get for people you hardly know.

rnbsmum · 23/12/2010 14:13

It's from the Boots advert. A christmas-jumper bedecked chap buys the course for his partner and is about to be lamped when he is handed a Sanctuary gift set to give her and declares he is only joking.

Would be way more impressed if DH got me the course than a tolietry gift set - nice sanctuary stuff or otherwise!!

Haven't seen an advert about this but I'd love a jam making course!

StayingFatherChristmasGirl · 23/12/2010 15:04

I'd definitely prefer the jam/preserving course.

Me too!

The boots ads are all really annoying this year. Like the women that aren't buying gifts but do anyway.

Thanks for that boots you utter pain on the bum!

MrsCratchit · 23/12/2010 15:08

I'd be much happier with course too! For me those Boots smellies gift boxes are too reminiscent of what my friends and I exchanged as teenagers.

Well, maybe the course and a decent bottle of perfume...but now I'm just being greedy Xmas Wink

TheParasiteofChristmasPast · 23/12/2010 15:10

who needs a course on making jam and stuff. honestly its not that hard.

FancyALittle · 23/12/2010 15:13

Not at all, I'd certainly relish it.

MrsChemistrySetInMyStocking · 23/12/2010 15:16

I thought that TPOCP, but then I remembered there are a billion different ways to preserve stuff, and I only know the "mix something with a shed load of sugar and boil for ages" method.

I bought some stuff for christmas from an online jam shop that also does courses. Not sure how much they are, but I would love it.

TheParasiteofChristmasPast · 23/12/2010 15:18

guffaw @ relish it.

tbh i can't be arsed. there are always enough earnest types foisting their preserves upon me to not have to bother

ensure · 23/12/2010 15:20

That's true parasite, but you could make new jam friends and learn weird and wonderful new recipes, passed down from their great grandmothers.

norfolkBRONZEturkey · 23/12/2010 19:04

its the learning to bottle with confidence stuff I would have like not just jam.
As for sanctuary tat, I don't have the time to pamper myself, and have too many toiletries and I dont like that crap anyway.

panettoinydog · 23/12/2010 19:16

Makingjam an d chutney is easy as pie. I would not welcome a course as a present.

MrsMustardSeed · 23/12/2010 19:25

Agree! When we had been married just two years, DH bought me a fish and shellfish preparation course and I was thrilled!! Very useful life skill it has been too...

theevildead2 · 23/12/2010 19:29

I said the same! Because I am well cool like that Blush

GandalfyCarawak · 23/12/2010 19:31

Oooooh me too! Those Boots gift boxes are a pile of crap imo.

I have asked DH for a Lakeland voucher. I am only 27. That is sad. (But I am happy) :o

molemesses · 23/12/2010 19:33

I'd love to go on one of those courses.

Fibilou · 23/12/2010 21:59

Boots gift boxes are for Secret Santas and people you don't really know

rookiemater · 23/12/2010 22:09

Ooh yes I saw that advert and thought that I would love to go on such a course, but then I'm really old

Unrulysanta · 23/12/2010 22:11

I am glad it's not just me. I think perhaps the target market is teenagers. Either that or it's a spectacularly bad advert.

singingcat · 23/12/2010 22:13

YABU it sounds very boring (to me)
