What is it for.

You are just conned into buying great big pretty boxes of boring dry fruit bread.

Tell me anyone if you actually eat all your pannetone.

Ditto wierdo cheeses (rhurbarb stilton for example) and 4-packs of dip.

lemon flavoured cross-shaped panettone is something else. Never seen one of those

GlossyPosse · 20/12/2010 19:17

My dh has been saying this for weeks. I just don't buy it and don't eat it and don't think about it but dh will join your, 'Pannetone, schmanattone!' club.

TheCrackFox · 20/12/2010 19:17

Don't get me started on fucking stollen - dry and overly sweet.

DanZZZenAroundTheTreeAgain · 20/12/2010 19:18

it's "n" "tt" "n"

I'm googling for a cross shaped lemon flavoured panettone. Your dh would like one of those

DanZZZenAroundTheTreeAgain · 20/12/2010 19:19

considering I've spelt it myself in about 3 different ways on the thread already...

DanZZZenAroundTheTreeAgain · 20/12/2010 19:20

or was it just a cross cut into the top?

GlossyPosse · 20/12/2010 19:21

All the fallow deer living 'wild', in the Cotswolds are descendants of the fallow deer that escaped from a local deer park in the very cold winter of 1963. The snow drifted up to the 8 ft walls and the deer just walked over and out. So I am slightly inclined to believe the refugees from private zoos theory.

Iwasthefourthwiseman · 20/12/2010 19:22

Yuk to panettone. Yum to Wensleydale & cranberry cheese.

GlossyPosse · 20/12/2010 19:25

Pannetone is a fruitcake. For which you are meant to feel incredibly grateful. And for which you are charged a King's ransom.

HouseOfBambooootiful · 20/12/2010 19:25

Hmm - panettone toast I would have to try before I judged. The untoasted version might as well be toast anyway it's so dry and powdery.

Am shocked at people dunking it in prosecco. Prosecco is gorgeous but it would struggle to maintain its appeal when awash with panettone crumbs in a sea-monkey stylee.

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 20/12/2010 19:25

Pannetone bread and butter pudding is absolutely bloody lovely.

VladimirsPukin · 20/12/2010 19:26

leave the cheeses alone. Wierdo my arse.

Rubob makes a very nice cheese

I think people who do not like cheeses that are a little bit different have something wrong with them.

DanZZZenAroundTheTreeAgain · 20/12/2010 19:27

I like your nick though lol

GlossyPosse · 20/12/2010 19:27

The fallow deer post belongs to the Puma thread. Blush

BornToFolk · 20/12/2010 19:28

I made a special trip to Lidl for panettone today and they didn't bloody have any! I consoled myself with a bag of mini stollen and a poinsettia.

Panettone is looooovely. I'm making a bread and butter pudding with it for Boxing Day pud.

I agree with weirdo cheeses though. DP loves all that fruity shite. I'm sticking to stilton.

DanZZZenAroundTheTreeAgain · 20/12/2010 19:28

shame really liked the fallow deer in amongst the Christmas cons

Ormirian · 20/12/2010 19:28

Colomba - it's an Easter panettone apparently.

DanZZZenAroundTheTreeAgain · 20/12/2010 19:29

what's with this whole panettone bread and butter pudding thing? When did everyone start making those? I missed this development.

VladimirsPukin · 20/12/2010 19:30

Borntofolk - how do you eat your poinsettia? Xmas Grin Toasted, or in a pudding?

DanZZZenAroundTheTreeAgain · 20/12/2010 19:31

picture

it's a dove

Ormirian · 20/12/2010 19:32

I realise that now Grin I googled too. But it doesn't look that much like a dove and it is vaguely cross-shaped.

goingroundthebend4 · 20/12/2010 19:32

i love it but maqke my own guess all those yeras with italian xdp have their uses

DanZZZenAroundTheTreeAgain · 20/12/2010 19:32

it doesn't look much like a dove at all really, does it? Lol

BornToFolk · 20/12/2010 19:33
