DS went into town on saturday with a friend to do his own christmas present buying for the first time. (he's only 11) I told him not to spend too much on people's presents and to take advantage of £1 shop etc (as it was his own pocket money he was using).

So anyway he came back with a wrapped present for me (I assume to be a box of biscuits Smile and two £1 boxes of chocolates for his dad. Then he brought out two packets of foxes biscuits for his two grandmas. DP laughed when he brought them out and later said "oh my god that's so embarrassing, I wouldn't DARE buy someone a pack of common biscuits for christmas, that's awful!" Hmm ffs he's 11!! at least he's bothered. DP is being a twat isn't he.

That is so mean!!

I hope you told DP off!!!

iamnotreallysure · 20/12/2010 07:41

Yes he his. What a lovely DS - I suspect the chocs are vile but I would love the present.

Does DH actually shop for Xmas himself or does he have his common minions do it for him?

overweightnoverdrawn · 20/12/2010 07:42

he is not being a twat he is being NASTY . This is his own son for gods sake he should be proud of him . Sorry I would not be to impressed with him AT ALL .

Goblinchild · 20/12/2010 08:10

Is DP his dad?
If so, I'd wrap the biscuits and the chocolates for the grandmas and leave DP with nothing.
That's just cruel and thoughtless, my mum loves biscuits and will be delighted when my DS gives her his present. (biscuits)

Aloneinthehouse · 20/12/2010 08:41

What an utter nasty vile twat your son should be praised not insulted I hope at the very least your DS gets a decent apology

wheredoesallthesnotcomefrom · 20/12/2010 08:50

YANBU you H is a twat

wheredoesallthesnotcomefrom · 20/12/2010 08:51

soory, P not H!

moondog · 20/12/2010 08:53

What an unpleasant comment.
Your son sounds gorgeous.

Pancakeflipper · 20/12/2010 08:55

Aww, how utterly sweet of your son.

Your DP is a big meanie and I hope your son eats the biscuits he bought him.

QuintMissesChristmasesPast · 20/12/2010 08:58

Hmm at your dp. Nasty.

Your son seems lovely and thoughtful.

Is your dp his stepfather? Is he jealous?

vinocollapso · 20/12/2010 08:58

What a delicious thing to do for his family, your boy sounds gorgeous, I agree!

Get your DP a box of dog biscuits - they'd be more fitting!! Ho ho ho!

Mummy2LZ · 20/12/2010 09:00

I live in Australia and was over the moon to walk into the British shop over here and find a box of Foxes biscuits!
YADNBU
I would love them if someone gave them to me as a present!
Sounds like your Son is a lovely thoughtful boy.
Well Done!

coldtits · 20/12/2010 09:01

I would make sure that your 'D'P doesn't get a present from your son next year.

coldtits · 20/12/2010 09:02

And yes, not 'Twat' - twat implies some foolishness or silliness - just nasty.

coldtits · 20/12/2010 09:03

Personally, I'd rip him a new arsehole for being so goddamned spiteful to a child. I wouldn't be that rude to an adult!

Your DS sounds sweet. I would be touched if a little boy bought me a box of Foxes biscuits that he had chosen. Very nasty of your DP though. Poor kid. :(

BettyCash · 20/12/2010 09:12

Lol at 'common biscuits'

monkeyflippers · 20/12/2010 09:14

Wow that's so ungrateful of your DH! Was your DS upset?

I remember going to a pound shop and buying my first presents for my parents. I got a card that sang when you opened it and a cheap medium sized packet of sweets. I was so proud! My parents didn't laugh in my face or anything but I remember thinking that they looked dissappointed. I was really hurt and it still stings now when I think about it.

PosieParkhersleigh · 20/12/2010 09:16

When I was that age I bought my parents a box of 'Gateway' own brand mint chocs for 29p, they were probably hideous but my Mum cried as it was all my own thought!!

You DP sounds like a bit of a prick on this occasion.

Goblinchild · 20/12/2010 09:17

Oh lordy, the tat that my children have given me with love over the years that I have crooned over and been happy that they thought of me and what they thought I might like.
Biscuits would have been a lovely choice.

ssd · 20/12/2010 09:19

can't believe you are actually on here asking "is dp being a bit of a twat"????

what are you, stupid?

you're dp is being a b***d and you sound like you allow this to happen

your poor son, at least he sounds like he knows the difference between treating folk like shite or being a decent human being

WoodRose · 20/12/2010 09:20

I'm sorry but he sounds like a complete tosser. He has undermined and humiliated your DS. I hope you had "words" with him. Thankfully, your DS sounds nothing like your DP.Grin What a lovely, thoughtful boy - you must be very proud of him!

Your DP is a nasty man - who would deliberately upset an 11 year old like that? I would be absolutely furious with him.
