An ex today informed me that he'd spent nearly 1000 euros on crystal tumblers from Prague - 6 tumblers, 6 small glasses and 6 shot glasses.

He thought it made him cool. I thought "WTF?"

And this is why he is now your ex...of course he is utterly bonkers; pity you can't show him the thrifty thread. Grin

Why do some people tell you the price of everything? Have a friend who peppers her conversation with how much it cost/vouchers she's used.

femalevictormeldrew · 17/12/2010 20:57

He has too much feckin money

MyBrilliantCareer · 17/12/2010 20:58

Frogmarrier - they're ok. Nothing that caught my eye. He was asking me if they were sexy. Eugh

Now he wants to meet up over Christmas (he's coming over from another continent earlier than needs to, to meet me for a shag I think).

FairiesWearSnowBoots · 17/12/2010 21:02

i'm glad he is your ex!

MyBrilliantCareer · 17/12/2010 21:06

Yes me too...although was being a complete desperado contemplating giving him another chance Blush

I need to get out more.

DeckTheHallWithBowlsOfPomBears · 17/12/2010 21:10

That is seriously a waste of money.

Is he a good shag though?

Caboodle · 17/12/2010 21:11

DeckTheHall....that is, of course, he most important question Grin

MyBrilliantCareer · 17/12/2010 21:11

He was a great shag. Best I've ever had.

OP posts:
Caboodle · 17/12/2010 21:13

Then the glasses issue may be resolvable...

MyBrilliantCareer · 17/12/2010 21:18

At least for a few heady days over Christmas...FGS it's been 6 weeks since a shag Blush

Conspicous Consumption = YUK

proudfoot · 17/12/2010 21:49

YANBU. How vulgar to try to "brag" about the price Hmm

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 17/12/2010 21:51

I think there's something a bit trashy about spending a lot of money on glass. The only way you can let people know how much they cost is by telling them. Who can tell the difference between a $500 glass and a Matalan special offer?

Get an Armani suit if you're that desperate to let people know what you earn.

shirleyhyypia · 17/12/2010 21:55

The crystal shops in prague are beautiful, def worth the money, but very tacky to tell you the cost...

MyBrilliantCareer · 17/12/2010 21:55

He doesn't even earn that much - I earn more than him. But he does spend a lot of energy trying to prove his worth in various ways. Which is actually ridiculous as he's physically very attractive and he's also very intelligent - and can be very sweet and kind. He seems to have missed the point, methinks.

However, vulgar and trashy pretty much says it all.

Tondey - I feel the same about shoes and handbags and clothes and just about everything tbh.

I never notice these things, I have no idea what's what.

I wouldn't recognise a Mulberry bag if it hit me in the face.

I imagine there are lots of people like me, so I truly do wonder why others covet them (in my mind they have been conned).
