Seriously, I don't get it. Unless you're earning at least £40K, why would you?

Enlighten me!

What an exceedingly simplistic evaluation, nIceguy.

I don't believe the state does it best necessarily but I could never ever trust a private company to do so. They rip off the British public left, right and centre - at every opportunity.

"leave the citizens to sort themselves out and that if you do manage to get rich within the law then fair play to you"

Brilliant. As if anyone who doesn't vote Tory doesn't want people to do well.

I don't mean to be rude but when I read utter utter utter cr*p like this, it incenses me when there are so many people who work damn hard - and I mean damn hard - and never get anywhere because of our society that does not facilitate the best to get ahead, regularly dumps on those from less equal backgrounds and if it could, generate more and more inequality.

Lots of interesting food for thought here, from both sides.

I would, could, never, ever vote Tory, both remembering Thatcher and looking at current Tories eg the ghastly and laughable Jacob Rees Mogg who's just become an MP and whom I was at uni with, Osborne (likewise) and Cameron. I just...couldn't. Eurgh.

The Tory party label as both the nasty party and the stupid party is just too apt.

I can't currently vote Labour, until they rediscover their conscience, but potentially could - in the meantime I'm a Green, with no urge to change - pretty impressed with them so far.

Niceguy a more accurate description would be:

Those who believe that the economy should work for the people, who believe in the concept of society and who accept that there will always be some people who can't help themselves and need society to help and support them.

Those who believe that the people should work for the economy, who do not believe in the conept of a society, and think that everyone should be self sufficient with the barest minimum of support from the state where people are unable to help themselves.

I believe in the former and am therefore a Labour voter, those who believe in the latter naturally vote Tory.
