to wonder about Cher's education

Why did Cher go back to her primary school?
Wouldn't her secondary let her into the building?

If that reception class even knew who she was and were allowed to stay up to watch Factor X, then they will now be traumatised by the Aguilira burlesque display.

"IMAF I think she has a couple of ASBO's for noise offenses."

"Hmm, yes, well that rapping warrants those."

I don't think it's anything to do with confidence.

5Foot5 · 12/12/2010 17:38

Now what confused us was that the head of her primary said something like "Oh we all said when Cher was here that she would end up in the X Factor final". But how could that be? If she is 17 now then it is at least 6 years since she was at primary school - has X factor been going that long? Barely!

Nancy66 · 12/12/2010 17:40

You're not family are you Earwicga? Sound like you could be....

UnquietDad · 12/12/2010 17:41

This is the seventh series so it is just possible... She'd have been in Y6 in 2004 when it started.

5Foot5 · 12/12/2010 17:41

"llareggub* "I've hated X Factor this year. The press have behaved disgracefully in the hatred for two of the female contestants."

I tend to agree. I have been a fan of the X factor since it started, but I am starting to lose interest a bit on this series and it is mainly due to the press coverage.

I am not so naive as to think that it is anything but an entertainment show. However, this year there has been a feelng that the contest will be won or lost in the red tops rather than on the TV.

Nancy66 · 12/12/2010 17:44

oh come on...Katie's granny being a hooker was the funniest story ever. Grin

AuntieMaggie · 12/12/2010 17:53

I think there's a lot more to cher than meets the eye - weren't the original stories about her being bullied and then they started saying she was a bully?

I like her and think that she's probably acted a certain way to get by in the past but I believe that underneath she is a nice person and is vunerable.

Cheryl isn't the only one who seems genuinely fond of her, so does Simon and Dermot and Mary despite what might've been said in the press - the little snippets where they're in the background and the camera isn't really on them is really telling IMO.

So she has tantrums - so what she'll grow out of them and to be honest living with Wagner and co isn't going to help is it? It's a bizarre situation being completely thrown out of your comfort zone. And tbh they've probably been thrown out of all proportion!

She's probably been told all her life that she won't amount to anything because of who she is related to.

panettoinydog · 12/12/2010 18:06

But you have no idea what she's like, magguie.

I don't understand how anyone can watch a person on the telly and then think they have worked out their whole personality and motives.

merryxmaswidow · 12/12/2010 18:25

good luck to her, if she can pull herself up by her bootstraps, get her head down and work her way to the top, she will have overcome her past ( not read the press so don't know anything about her ). She won't rise to the top if she is as 'vile' as is said because she will have to be smart and get along with those who can help her.

I liked her spirit; thought she is a bit rough round the edges but that to me is the stuff of youth. I think if played right she could triumph over adversity.

saffy85 · 12/12/2010 18:45

It's a shame Cher wastes her time rapping as she's crap at it. She can however sing quite well although she's obviously nowhere near as good as Rebecca. There is something about Cher I don't like but hey she's still young there's plenty of time to grow up. I'm in my mid 20s now and nothing like I was at 17.

I'd be pretty relieved myself at not actually winning X Factor too. Simon Cowell has so much control over the winner they can't even break wind without his permission.

80sMum · 12/12/2010 18:59

I thought Cher's performaces yesterday were better than the other 3 by several orders of magnitude. I suspect she didn't go through to the final not because she lacks talent (she has plenty, imo) but because for whatever reason (I don't read papers so haven'e a clue what) people don't seem to warm to her.
I have to say that I found Louis Walsh's outburst of sycophantic flattery towards Rebecca a little cringe-making. For me, that was a 'pass the bucket' moment!

I'm not keen oin Rebecca's singing and she seems very wooden; just stands there and never moves.

I think One Direction will win. They're by no means the best singers (that was Cher) but they've got quite a following and I think that will carry them through.

blondieno1 · 12/12/2010 19:07

Cher was awful as she has been every week. You can tell by her attitude she's a nasty piece of work.

Rebecca on the other hand is a beautiful person, inside and out.

It's tough this year but I suspect Wand Erection will win, not out of talent alone, but because Mr Cowell knows where the money is.

sincitylover · 12/12/2010 19:15

the thing that has baffled me is when the judges say what Cher is doing is new and cutting edge - rapping like that is nothing new and completely derivative.

Its Rebecca for me - don't think she needs to move around that much.

splashy · 12/12/2010 19:17

I don't think you can believe much of what you hear in the papers. She does pull some ugly facial expressions when she sings though!

plusonemore · 12/12/2010 19:28

going back to the OP...the students past and present were all invited (free) to the evening show at 3 counties showground, i think they used her primary to try to make her seem 'softer'

plusonemore · 12/12/2010 19:29

thats Dyson students

FattyArbuckel · 12/12/2010 19:31

Agree re Cher being "new generation" - I think she is old hat rehash!

She does come across as having a very unattractive personality imo

WeLoveTheDailyMail · 12/12/2010 19:41

Name change for reasons.
A close family member is one of the people that was horribly bullied by Cher, and has since been threatened by family members if she "goes public". Not just usual high school bitchiness, but sustained, cruel bullying that made her life a misery.

Megglevache · 12/12/2010 19:44

GetOrf is my hero for today.

GetOrfMoiLand · 12/12/2010 19:46

Yes, slighytly Hmm at the supposed cutting edge rapping.

Alesha Dixon did equally terrible rapping with Misteeq donkey's years ago.

GetOrfMoiLand · 12/12/2010 19:48

[kisses] megglevache.

AitchTwoOh · 12/12/2010 20:24

how terrible fo your family member, WLTDM, appalling that her folks are doing that still.
imo nancy is entitled to her opinion, btw, she is entirely likely to be privy to information that is not in the public domain.

am watching now... has no one else noticed that rebecca's voice curdles milk?

taffetazatyousantaclaus · 12/12/2010 20:45

I am waiting for Rebecca to release something. She's the only X Factor contestant ever I have said that about. Amazing voice.

AitchTwoOh · 12/12/2010 20:47

she absolutely doesn't have a clue what to do with it, thought. it's hideous.
