ASDA FUCKING DIRECT!!!!!!!!

Just a warning to all you lovely mumsnetters - they are absolute shite.
I ordered a dolls house and furniture for my DD on there for Christmas at the end of Oct cos it was half price. I chose the option to have it delivered to my local(ish) store and pick it up from there. You are supposed to get an email when it is ready for you to collect and they keep it there for a month - if you haven't collected it by then it gets returned and the money is refunded to your card.
Anyway after about 3 weeks I still hadn't heard anything and I was shopping in Asda one day and I noticed their shelves were absolutely full of these dolls houses and was obviously wondering why I hadn't been contacted to collect mine. I phoned their "customer services" when I got home and they phoned the store while I was on the line and told me that it was ready to collect. I went to the store a few days later only to find that it wasn't there but there was another dolls house there for someone else with my surname (who had ordered theirs after me!). They turned the place upside down and said that it definitely wasn't there and that they couldn't do anything about it and I would have to call customer services again. I did last week and they said they would get back to me (still waiting).
Yesterday I got an email from them to say that the item had been returned to the depot that day (3rd Dec), as they had had it for a month, and my card has been refunded. Well firstly I had no email from them to say it was there and secondly when I went to collect it they insisted it wasn't there when it obviously was.
I would complain to ASDA but you have to call their expensive customer services which have been useless and don't return calls.
My only option now apparently (I asked in store today) is to re-order the item and they won't guarantee that it will be in stock or that I will have it in time for Christmas! I have to do this myself and there's no way they can help me or rush the order or anything even though it is their fucking mistake!
I'm gutted cos I know DD would have loved that dolls house and I was really looking forward to seeing her little face light up when she saw it on Christmas morning. I'm gonna really struggle to find another one in my price range before Christmas now because they have pissed me around for so long.

I know mistakes get made but they've done nothing to put it right. I definitely won't be ordering anything from them again!
OK got it off my chest now. Thanks for reading!

Why on Earth didn't you buy one when they had loads in?

saintknickerless · 04/12/2010 18:05

Cos I' already ordered it and didn't want to pay twice!

OP posts:
TheFoosa · 04/12/2010 18:06

is that the £35 one? There were loads in my local one

ItalianLady · 04/12/2010 18:07

You could have got them to cancel the order.

There are loads in my local asda too.

saintknickerless · 04/12/2010 18:07

There was in ours too but none now :(

toosoft · 04/12/2010 18:08

No advice, but I know how you feel. M&S have messed me around too. Hope you find something for DD.

LeChatRouge · 04/12/2010 18:08

Cut and paste your post into their Email Us section on the Customer Services page?

saintknickerless · 04/12/2010 18:09

IL. I thought they would have the one I ordered. When I went to pick it up the first time they said if I called customer services they would have it within a few days. I didn't think there was that much rush cos there was still a while til xmas. Wish I had just cancelled it now.

LIZS · 04/12/2010 18:10

Don't understand why you didn't ask the instore cutomer services to check for you when you kenw they had stock. Then you could have cancelled the online order if needs be. Can't they transfer one/send it back for you to collect if the store don't have any? Emails go can astray or into spam. Alternatively Argos and Toys r Us were advertising dolls houses cheap recently.

PressureDrop · 04/12/2010 18:10

Asda Direct messed us around ridiculously the only two times we ever used them, so no longer shop there. Shopping delivery also appalling - half my goods substituted for their own brand, turned up late, and most of the stuff had sell by dates of 24-28 hours.

nameymcnamechange · 04/12/2010 18:11

That is some shocking customer service, I have to agree.

saintknickerless · 04/12/2010 18:16

LIZS - they have refused to do anything. They said I have to re-order online and it may or may not be in stock and they can't guarantee I will get it in time for xmas and considering I ordered this one at the end of Oct I'm not hopeful I would have it in time for xmas. They can't help me apparently (for unspecified reasons).
I've got no problem getting emails from them (I got the one saying it had been returned).
Can't find an email address on their website. Just a customer services number which keeps you on held on for about an hour and then doesn't help at all or return calls!

Email:

Go to their homepage
Scroll down to bottom and click on 'Contact us'
On new page choose 'I shop in-store' link and it will open a new window with a form for you to fill in.

ItalianLady · 04/12/2010 18:21

Doesn't say out of stock here.

Joolyjoolyjoo · 04/12/2010 18:24

That is very poor, especially when you have been so organised so early! I'd definitely mail them and let them know what a shambles the whole thing was (but check your junk mail etc first- I once fired off an angry e-mail about not being notified about something (not asda) and their e-mail was in my junk folder Blush)

saintknickerless · 04/12/2010 18:25

Thanks LeChat
IL - I've no idea when I would get it if I do order it again so I think I'm going to get one somewhere else.

OP posts:
saintknickerless · 04/12/2010 18:29

I'll check Joolyjoo but when I went to collect it after being told it was there and it wasn't there it was showing on their system that it wasn't there too so I don't think I would have had an email off them. If it arrived after then it shouldn't have gone back cos they'd have only had it just over a week. I've no idea what happened but I think they could have been more helpful.

OP posts:
saintknickerless · 04/12/2010 18:32

I tell a lie - they did say that if the other woman (with the same order and surname) didn't come to collect her one I could buy that one. So I can wait but I still might not end up with a dolls house!
