Okay, I get that it makes life tough. I live in the middle of nowhere and we had our work cut out the last two years. But I am GUTTED that the rest of the UK has a big freeze and are all talking about snow (to the left, right, up and down according to the weather maps) and we have just got a feeble little meh cms of the stuff.

It's like there's a really exciting event that the Cotswolds aren't allowed to take part in.

(childish rant over, toys back in pram, no longer lying on the floor, licky tissue applied).

Still nothing here in Somerset! Kids have given up asking if it's snowed when they get up in the mornings. They are now pinning their hopes on it snowing in january and february.

DownyEmerald · 03/12/2010 22:17

It's chucking down snow here still, proper settling and everything. Bet it rains away by morning :(

ArentFanny · 03/12/2010 22:21

It is now raining here, so hopefully they can go bcak on Monday and stop driving me mad. Although her swimmin lesson was great last night as there were only 2 in it.

Greenshadow · 03/12/2010 22:21

We're on the hills near you Pat, and it's definitely snow up here. DH only just managed to get back up Brimscombe hill half an hour ago.

Desiderata · 03/12/2010 22:22

It hardly ever settles in Bristol.

It's been raining all night, so what little hoar we had has all been washed away.

PatTheHammer · 03/12/2010 22:26

Forecast is rain all night now Greenshadow,

Hope it washes it all away for you.

Oh I remember attempting Brimscombe Hill last year, why oh why!!?

DH got stuck up on the common last year too, we officialy hate the snow in this familySmile

Greenshadow · 03/12/2010 22:31

Yeah, we were snowed in up here last year. The novelty has definitely worn off now.

solo · 04/12/2010 13:37

My Mum has informed me that they have forecast this weather until January .

mummylin2495 · 04/12/2010 17:06

my dh was so disappointed that footi was cancelled in Bristol today, never mind i have my kitchen ceiling painted instead !

Hulababy · 04/12/2010 17:15

Seriously, the novelty wore off very vey quickly after the first day.

It is now wet slush and looks messy in many places. Our estate is severa inches of compacted ice and snow - it is treacherous to drive on. There is no fun left at all in it.

I may not be able to use my car for afew more days yet.

solo · 04/12/2010 19:51

Black ice everywhere here.

Limara · 04/12/2010 19:55

I live near you TCOB and half of the town I live in got snow last night and half didn't? It's a small town how can that be?

nappyaddict · 05/12/2010 15:02

The tiny amount we had has now been washed away by the rain.

DownyEmerald · 05/12/2010 19:30

That was great! Feasted my eyes on it Friday evening when it was so pretty. Sat morning still a good layer left so did a snow lady and snow hedgehog in the garden. Little sledge round the village, not enough for our sort of sledge on the sledging field but dd happy with her huskies running her down the slopey road a few times. Rained in the pm so knew ice was coming...

Not so great today, mega ice/black ice everywhere in the village, went up onto Selsley common, and no snow to north and west. Did they have any?

So feel better now!

cjbk1 · 05/12/2010 19:40

i was so dissapointed we'r in WGC herts and got some thin snow which did settle but too thin to play with and i espeically wished for some on my birthday (it was a special one) on wed but it was melting (i even dreamt it was falling hard the night before) and since then we'v had sodding rain.even in nearby towns theyv had better snow Sad

Greenshadow · 06/12/2010 09:01

hi Downy - Seemed to be very localised round Stroud area.
We had a lot on Friday evening on Minch Common although some had gone by morning. Made it into town on Sat morning and met people from Stonehouse who were amazed when they got to Stroud and found all the snow. Yet someone else said getting out of the Stanleys was awful.

Although most of the snow has gone and most roads are fine, the lane down to our house is steep and bendy, so with all the ice still around, we are still having to leave our car a little way away and elderly neighbours won't leave their house at all.

Warm weather can't come soon enough here.

DownyEmerald · 06/12/2010 10:45

Hi Greenshadow

Hadn't realised we were so chosen! Must admit a little bit of a pain now. Luckily dd's school is just on the other side of the road :). Wimped out going to work today so mumsnetting working at home.

janedoe25 · 06/12/2010 11:35

erm, you can have some of our snow. We now have 3ft and counting as it hasn't stopped snowing since 7am. we have not been able to leave our village in over a week because of it! Angry
