Okay, I get that it makes life tough. I live in the middle of nowhere and we had our work cut out the last two years. But I am GUTTED that the rest of the UK has a big freeze and are all talking about snow (to the left, right, up and down according to the weather maps) and we have just got a feeble little meh cms of the stuff.

It's like there's a really exciting event that the Cotswolds aren't allowed to take part in.

(childish rant over, toys back in pram, no longer lying on the floor, licky tissue applied).

I KNOW it's shit but that doesn't stop me wanting some - my inner toddler is raging.

Nope. None here either.

oldraver · 01/12/2010 23:11

I'm in West Oxfordshire and s far have had a very small amount. The main roads are clear again but we still have some ondue to our our minor roads, plus our car is now on the road due to our sloping drive. We could just get off but difficult to get back on and neither of us up to de-snowing the drive

DiscoDaisy · 01/12/2010 23:12

Webwiz - my OH is stuck in Dublin as well. I've spent all evening sorting him out a flight home to a different airport than he flew there from. Ryanair can't put him on a flight til saturday.

MedusaIsHavingABadHairDay · 01/12/2010 23:13

Oxfordshire here too..and not a flake. We had about 1cm on tuesday and nothing since! My inner toddler is sulking...

I want snow... whaaaaa:(

TCOB · 01/12/2010 23:14

OldRaver: think you must be near me - are you in Mr Cameron's constituency?

Meg: it's surpising to hear that Blackpool doesn't have any - I was thinking of heading up to my ma's (south Manchester) hunting the white stuff this weekend. Maybe no point?

Disco and Medusa: altogether now: WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA (accompanied by stamping of feet on dry, snowless land).

And God damn News 24 for rubbing my face in it with those effing FROZEN BRITAIN pieces which all seem to come from the same village in Northumberland...

BTW are the BBC now sponsored by North Face Hmm

Cheshire - just a light covering. I think YABU by the way. People are having a shit time in so much snow. I'm glad we haven't got more. It's fun for about a day, then it's just a pain in the arse.

pointydog · 01/12/2010 23:18

It's v exciting for 48 hours tops. Then it's a drag.

webwiz · 01/12/2010 23:18

OMG DiscoDaisy Saturday! I won't share that piece of information with him. Ryanair waited 4 hours after his flight was due to leave before they officially cancelled it but at least he managed to get a hotel for the night - he had only gone for the day for a meeting so doesn't have anything with him apart from a laptop.

tribpot · 01/12/2010 23:19

Frozen clumps of snow, people!

ARepleteHmmSkiNun · 01/12/2010 23:22

To all you Somerset folk who are lacking. I picked someone up from Bridgwater on Friday and went over the Quantocks to avoid an accident. Up and over very romantic - thick snow and lots of fog. Down the other side. VERY hairy. That looks like all we'll get. Heart pumping as I slid sideways down the road. Made it safely tho.'

DiscoDaisy · 01/12/2010 23:23

Mine's spending the night at the airport which apparently doesn't have many chairs.
He's rebooked with Ryanair for saturday but I got him on another flight with a different airline tomorrow.
The new flight is back to a different airport but FIL is going to pick OH up and take him to the old airport to pick up car and then OH can come home!
< atleast that's the plan until something else goes wrong>
He's been away 2 days so at least has toiletries wtih him and I'd like to think he would try and get new underwear and socks at the airport. Hmm

SingingMog · 01/12/2010 23:23

Hardly anything in Preston. Enough to make our road like an ice rink, but when on the main roads it is fine.

All the kids at school keep saying "If 3/4/8/etc of us slip and hurt ourselves does that mean the school has to close?"! Erm... no. Especially not if you were sliding in the ice purposely to make yourself slip over and hurt yourself.

solo · 01/12/2010 23:28

Our schools are closed...

webwiz · 01/12/2010 23:32

Fortunately DH left his car at our local station and got the train to Stansted. I have managed to renew his parking online and he'll just get a flight into any London airport with any airline. He'll go into his firms Dublin office and work there till his new flight tomorrow (or whenever!).

The unfortunate thing is that its DH's fathers birthday today and when he phoned to say Happy Birthday he mentioned that he might end up being stuck in Dublin so I've had a huge number of phone calls from MIL worrying about her darling 44 year old baby and will he get back alright Hmm

DiscoDaisy · 01/12/2010 23:34

Has he already sorted another flight with Ryanair because if not then good luck! Xmas Smile

webwiz · 01/12/2010 23:39

No DiscoDaisy he was going to sort it out in the morning. I presume he'll turn up at some point in the next few days but obviously I am nowhere near as worried about him as his mother is Xmas Smile

MrManager · 01/12/2010 23:41

I heard Cheltenham had a light dusting, and Newent had a fair bit.

Swansea's had none.

TheNextMrsDepp · 01/12/2010 23:53

Well we had none in Surrey until two days ago. Then - FLUMP! Loads of the stuff. Every school within 100 miles was closed today except the one the dcs attend - how gutted were they when I dragged them on a 1-hour car journey to school while everyone else went sledging?!

Islandlady · 01/12/2010 23:58

yep its snowing on the Isle of Wight

shoshe · 02/12/2010 00:03

North Dorset and we have nothing either, of which i am glad, got snowed in last year, dont want to be again this year.

ilovesooty · 02/12/2010 00:04

West Yorkshire - you can have some of hours - I'm sick of the fucking stuff.

sterrryerryoh · 02/12/2010 00:10

East Midlands here- you?re welcome to the snow we?ve got here. It?s not stopped since yesterday morning, still snowing now
and I?m just looking at my car now, and it is higher than my headlight.

My Dad was supposed to go to hospital for a fairly important procedure today (which he has been medicating for and not eating for the previous 24 hours) but it was cancelled until next week, as none of the staff made it in to the hospital this morning. V stressful

We haven?t been able to buy any food (supermarket is shut, and all the shops on the high street - 1st time I?ve ever known that) and are living off store cupboard crap. The poor dog literally can?t get outside as we have a 5 foot snow drift blocking up the back door, and I am going stir crazy. Help yourself
