to be distraught at being the only place in the UK without snow?

Okay, I get that it makes life tough. I live in the middle of nowhere and we had our work cut out the last two years. But I am GUTTED that the rest of the UK has a big freeze and are all talking about snow (to the left, right, up and down according to the weather maps) and we have just got a feeble little meh cms of the stuff.

It's like there's a really exciting event that the Cotswolds aren't allowed to take part in.

(childish rant over, toys back in pram, no longer lying on the floor, licky tissue applied).

snowed in here in the country outside glasgow no milk,no bread and no fresh fruit or veg, also not been to work since finishing on Friday, therefore no wages this week ,terrific

TCOB · 02/12/2010 16:02

Cor what a lot of posts! And DoD as well.

Had another slight flurry but all all it's a pretty dismal view - bloody freezing and hard to get about but none of the compensations of building snowmen.

Seems there's a lot of different views, but a clear Cotswold contingent who are mightily pissed off with the lack of white stuff and would love to stand hip to hip (or whichever part is above the snow) with the rest of the UK.

We've got used to being snowed in and I love it - I love the fact everyone is nice to eachother, the kids go sledging at midnight, we all go round to eachother's houses to eat orange food from the freezer, I feel sad explaing to DS that yes, we are in the UK but when the news says there is snow everywhere they just mean some places...better stop now, just making myself sad Sad

I'm with you all and YANBU. Just outside Cambridge and we seem to have missed out too. Only have about 1cm. Pathetic.

At least we still have 2-3 months of potential snowfall time. Fingers crossed we'll be next to get a dollop.

In South Oxfordshire. We had a sprinkle yesterday morning, nothing inconvenient, and another sprinkle this morning. I have my new snow shovel at the ready but TBH, I'm not disappointed. I'm nearly 37 weeks pregnant and what we have is slippery enough, thanks! Am dreading being snowed in and MW not getting through/being able to get to hospital. Or DH getting stuck up north just before we have the baby. Or grandparents not being able to come and help with DS while we have the baby... etc.

We were snowed in for a week at the start of the year. It was fun and pretty but not while I'm hugely pregnant, ta! Grin

just a measly pathetic dusting here in berkshire. can my inner toddler join u in the foot stamping and ranting? i am really pissed off too. all i want is enough to make a snowman then it can go away. ggrrrr!

Vanillacandle · 02/12/2010 19:17

YABVVVVVU! See MN I Hate Snow Club thread for reasons why... we explain it very clearly!

dannyblanchflower · 02/12/2010 19:23

North Somerset here too - where's our snow! BBC weather keeps changing its forecasts. I get all excited and then it says white cloud or something equally dull.

Jellykat · 02/12/2010 19:46

The Preseli mountains in Pembrokeshire have a teeny bit, i can see them, but none here, 10 minutes drive away. Probably just as well, my tyres' are nearly bald..(they are still legal)

hellsbells4 · 02/12/2010 20:43

scary times for us - worst possible time for snow, as we rely on busy December to get us through Jan/Feb/Mar. Customers already cancelling their party bookings - and the few customers we do have are in jolly snow-fest mood.

I came to england 30 years ago and still have never toboganned down a slope cos I'm too busy clearing snow to join in the fun. BOO HOOO!
ps. support your local pubs and retailers or they might be gone by spring!

PowderMum · 02/12/2010 20:54

Still no real snow here in East Herts, ice on the side roads but not even 1cm of snow.

Greenshadow · 03/12/2010 08:39

BBC website currently forecasting a heavy snow cloud over Cotswolds tonight :(

TantieTowie · 03/12/2010 09:31

Holding out for no snow till Tuesday here in Bristol - we're moving house on Monday...

TCOB · 03/12/2010 12:02

Greenshadow you have made my day!

Tantie: fingers crossed the deluge keeps east of Bristol...

Crsipy ahve you only just got snow?

DD's school has been shut for 2 days.

CrispyTheCrisp · 03/12/2010 22:10

Yes Fanny. We have had a pathetic dusting. Drove to Bath today for the Christmas Market, so really not bad at all.

If you looked at the aerial map of the UK the other day there was a small black bit....which was us!
