I'm know I'm feeling to sensitive regarding this matter but need to vent. I'm a photographer. Children mostly and often do sittings for friends. Hubbies friends etc. I do charge for piccys but don't charge sitting fees and always give a few freebies to friends. Know one minds this as I'm very busy, have lots of friends so couldn't possibly work totally for free for all of them. So I adopted a treat all the same policy for friends.
Hubby has a friend who I did totally free christening piccys for and also a few portrait sittings for, one free, 2 paid but they did get some freebies included.these have always gone well and lots of nice pics to choose. Anyway this week wife of couple posted a lot of pics on facebook taken by someone else (another friend apparently) I feel really slighted, I know she is entitled to do this but to flaunt it right under my nose is very upsetting
I'd rather not know to be Frank! I feel I've been extremely fair to this family! Thoughts? Thanks in advance

yabvu sorry

3beagles · 28/11/2010 22:01

She posted pictures of her child at her own chrsitening on FB????

What a bitch.

ilovehens · 28/11/2010 22:02

It's their facebook page, they're entitled to put up which ever pics they choose tbh.

If you do free pics in the future you'll have to include a clause which states that you'll be given priority whenever photos of said event are publically aired.

I don't think they're flaunting it under your nose just by posting their pics on their fb page.

ilovehens · 28/11/2010 22:04

are you a narcissist by any chance? Hmm

redflag · 28/11/2010 22:05

So she put pics of her family on her facebook, and that equates her flaunting the pics in front of you? Hmm.

YABVVVU!

Bonniebabyajs · 28/11/2010 22:06

These are another professionals piccys not amateurs, I feel my previous generosity has been taken for granted

OP posts:
Chocolocolate · 28/11/2010 22:07

Is it that you are upset that they used (perhaps paid) for another photographer rather than coming back to you?

ilovehens · 28/11/2010 22:08

Well don't bother doing it again then Hmm

Your 'generosity' obviously has many strings attached.

Could it be that you're just not that good and another pro has done a better job than you?

atswimtwolengths · 28/11/2010 22:08

Have you considered that they preferred those photos to yours and why?

Dexterrocks · 28/11/2010 22:08

Maybe, after lots of freebies, they were embarrassed to ask again incase you thought they were asking for more freebies?

Chocolocolate · 28/11/2010 22:09

Is it possible that they felt like they didn't want to impose on your generosity again.

If you give freebies for friends every time then they may feel like they are taking advantage of your kind nature if they always ask you to do the pics?

bupcakesandcunting · 28/11/2010 22:09

what the fuck?

Chocolocolate · 28/11/2010 22:09

Great minds think alike dexterrocks.

ilovehens · 28/11/2010 22:10

I'd rather pay somebody for stuff rather than recieve favours or freebies. You know where you are when you've paid for something.

BelleDeChocChipCookieMonster · 28/11/2010 22:10

It's down to her to choose what photographer she uses and what she puts on her FB page. You sound a tad controlling to be honest.

ginhag · 28/11/2010 22:11

Had you made them sign a contract in blood saying that you were their official family photographer?

Chocolocolate · 28/11/2010 22:11

Also,

Maybe this professional gave them a good deal, or it was a friend who offered or even a friend who purchased the pics for them.

Either way, I wouldn't take it personally.

ginhag · 28/11/2010 22:12

Maybe remember that for next time, eh?

igetmorelovefromthecat · 28/11/2010 22:14

YABU

Did you not notice the other photographer at the Christening?!

redflag · 28/11/2010 22:15

ha ha ha @ginhag

Dexterrocks · 28/11/2010 22:16

Chocolocolate - ha ha! So it seems.
Bonniebabyajs - maybe they were given a gift voucher for the other photographer.

Hubby makes my teeth itch

kreecherlivesupstairs · 28/11/2010 22:33

Can you get the OP to take a photo of your itchy teeth milk?

parakeet · 28/11/2010 22:34

OP, every single person here thinks you are unreasonable. Either that or slightly unhinged.

Sort yourself out woman.
