I'm not suggesting anyone read the synopsis as that's disgusting enough. But I don't know how the government can allow this disgusting film to be released!

Surely this sort of film encourages paedophillia and violent rape.

There are more slaves alive now than there has been before at any time in the history of the world. The majority of this is sex trafficking.

I'm revolted that a film like this can be given even a censored release date (10th)

It's like Groundhog day in the feminist debate

I said I would deregister once this thread has died. I came back to answer dittany back every single time she refers to me. She has shouted everyone else that disagrees off the thread [except SGB so far]

It was not personal when I began this thread. She has made it so.

LadyBlaBlah · 29/11/2010 22:18

I don't think you need to de-register pofakked.

Mumcentreplus · 29/11/2010 22:22

pofakkked why would you deregister?..because someone doesn't agree with you?..because you feel slighted?..what ever the reason have a good old flounce and then come back..

MrsTed this film cannot be banned...should it have been made? imo No..should it be challenged? imo Yes..should this crap be let loose into the world to be consumed and infect young minds imo No...is it an allegory of the Balkan conflict..nah..if anything its a feeble excuse for the behaviour and actions some people commited during conflict...and thats me being kind...i think its trash

SGB - I don't think the director would hve been jailed for hurting stuffed toys!! I also know its an old film. I was just using the film as another example of my 'one film tying to outgross another' concern.

toddlerwrangler · 29/11/2010 22:43

As a side note, I want to aplogise for my apalling spelling. Again!

thanks...I have read it and tbh its clutching at straws

'A Serbian Film suggests that the director and his screenwriter Aleksander Radivojevic are making an allegory about their troubled and isolated homeland.'...a

s i said and will say again how is rape and allegory of trouble and isolation?...what does that say about you as a screenwriter...director

this film is if this was truely its purpose which I doubt is like taking a jack-hammer to dig a hole in your back garden...

its about shock and visual effect it is a film after all..and the fact it was cut tells you that

I can find more than 1 un-favourable review and these are from real horror fans and reviewers..

'It has a craftsmanship that these films lack.' = it had more money than you expect from a Serbian film

'A Serbian Film underlines, though, is that some pictures can still get under audiences' and censors' skins.'= it means it went where other films dare not tread fuck the consequences..

'If this was just another bad and grotesque horror film, nobody would be paying any attention to it.' = it is as described.. that's why people are paying attention to it...

I felt I had to read that link to see where the debate was going. Now I wish I hadn't. Another night of no sleep.

Mumcentreplus · 29/11/2010 23:55

fucking hell...grim reading..you think you have seen and heard some things but as I said before truth is stranger and nastier than fiction..doen't mean it should be entertainment..actually after reading that it has made me even more angry about this film..

In your link Dittany, I got as far as " to make hatred sexy

I think that nails what this is all about.
Hatred of women, men's hatred acted out upon women in the form of rapes and murder- man against woman- is eroticised and made sexy, desensitizing the populace against violence towards women.
