And in case I'm accused of sexism, I have also said that women who have a problem with other women breastfeeding should get a grip.

I just think mothers have so much on their plate already the last thing they need to worried about is whether feeding their baby is making other people uncomfortable.

wotnochocs · 28/11/2010 11:04

DH says he doesn't like to see breastfeeding...the baby's head gets in the way Wink

sakura - FGS!

The thread is about what men think/say about women BF yet no one is a man here but me.

I recon I generally know at least as much as you about what men think.

Sakura · 28/11/2010 11:14

no the thread is about being pissed off about men who do say these things, not a hypothetical discussion about whether or not men say those things.

TBH, I don't think it's a man thing per se, It's the way society has been set up. Some women are also "uncomfortable" but that is indicitative of a female-unfriendly society. Just last month, I flew on a plane and had to BF DS as it was a long-haul flight and I came back from the toilet and heard the two men either side of me making comments Shock

I don'T think those men were particularly "weird" , just a product of a female-unfriendly culture that us uneducated when it comes to breastfeeding.

BeenBeta · 28/11/2010 11:58

You might also want to consider whether the culture of the country you live in is somewhat different to the UK on this issue as well.

Sakura · 28/11/2010 13:17

the two men in question (on the long-haul flight) were British. They were pleasant in many ways, not utter weirdos, but the casual sniggering at a breastfeeding woman was worth mentioning on this thread.

UnquietDad · 28/11/2010 19:39

BeenBeta- I'm here too! And I agreed with you.

thefentiger · 28/11/2010 20:17

Breastfed my 2 DC for about 2 years each-couldnt give flying f**K what anyone else thought.
Two icidents spring to mind- feeding DC1 in a cafe- a little old lady literally ran over(Mrs Doubtfire styleeGrin) punched me on the arm and said.......Well done well done good for you!Grin
Second incident-catsbum mouth 60ish women came over to me and told me that her husband found my breastfeeding in public"disgusting"
told her to tell him to stop staring then !!!
Honestly I loved BF -couldnt care less what anyone else thought.

scottishmummy · 28/11/2010 20:32

cant lump all men together with 2 bampots.ime most men are supportive of bf. there are always exceptions who unfortunately say stupid things.doesnt mean all men think like this

females can also be snippy about bf,and tut and comment to.i had jip of females none off men

BeenBeta · 28/11/2010 21:25

UQD - sorry I missed your post.

My wife is encouraging me to have my eyes lasered. I obviously can't see a damn thing.

DrSeuss · 28/11/2010 21:35

You must BF your child whenever they need to, where ever you are. If sad little men stare, just invite them to take a photo, they won't linger!

UnquietDad · 28/11/2010 22:19

Beta - that's OK, I miss all sorts on here...
