"Homeless go without food. Elderly go without needed medicines. Mentally ill go without treatment. Troops go without proper equipment. Veterans go without benefits promised to them!!! Yet we donate millions of pounds to other countries before helping our own first! 1% will re-post and ...99% of people on Facebook won't have the guts to re-post this. Do you?"

BARF! I hate this kind of thing. Am struggling to resist replying!

ConstanceFelicity · 25/11/2010 14:03

I saw this a few months ago. I had to reply, then I rtemoved the friend.

pjmama · 25/11/2010 14:03

Resist! Just ignore it, it's the modern version of chain letters and they were always shit.

emptyshell · 25/11/2010 14:04

Blimey - it's 99% today! Thought it was a universal law of Facebook that 98% of people won't dare to repost this.

They need to get that sorted - it MUST be 98% or the internet will implode!

toddlerwrangler · 25/11/2010 14:04

They ALL do my head in Angry . Appart from the spoof one about 99% of people who do not repost this message will be eaten by dragons. That made me laugh.

APixieInMyTea · 25/11/2010 14:04

YANBU.

I just skip past them!

I understand the sentiment but posting it to your status isn't gonna make a dot of difference is it.

Or am I know being U?

toddlerwrangler · 25/11/2010 14:05

This one:

Please put this as your status if you know someone who doesn't like Being eaten by dragons. Dragons are nearly unstoppable and can breathe fire, so we may as well accept the fact that they will eat us. 96% of people won't copy and paste this because they prefer NOT being eaten by dragons. The other 4% are awesome, because they WILL copy this status.

Makes me chuckle.

Frazzledmumwithsmudgedmascara · 25/11/2010 14:05

I hate those c&p statuses regardless of what they say. A particularly annoying one is the one about "Being a mother". Very sickly and annoying.

APixieInMyTea · 25/11/2010 14:05

Now* being U.

Blush
DuelingFanio · 25/11/2010 14:07

The dragon one made me chuckle.

5GoldenFimbos · 25/11/2010 14:07

There is an annoying one doing the rounds today Frazzled about daughters. Some people just post any old crap, me included because I keep posting about that McKeith bint. Grin

My dh hates facebook, thinks its a waste of time. He had an account at one stage for dd to use him as an extra neighbour in Farmville but he has since deleted himself.

CubaCat · 25/11/2010 14:12

I'm with Frazzled, I hate the mother one too - something like 'I swapped designer bags for nappy bags, salon cuts for a ponytail but I love my child and don't regret turning into a tramp a thing' or something equally boaksome.

Rhian82 · 25/11/2010 14:12

Aargh - saw a similar one a while back, while there was all the floods in Pakistan. Basically having a go at the government specifically for helping people in Pakistan, rather than give the money to our armed forces. I didn't say anything, just removed the friend.

SeaTrek · 25/11/2010 14:25

Ugh - saw that one yesterday, too.

I have a few friends who post this kind of stuff. I usually hide them from my newsfeed afterwards Smile.

SecretSlattern · 25/11/2010 14:34

I like this one today:

WARNING,PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. If someone comes to your front door and asks you to remove your clothes and dance with your arms in the air, DO NOT do this, it is a scam, they just want to see you naked. Please copy and paste this to your status, I wish I had received this yesterday, I feel ...stupid now!!!

mamadiva · 25/11/2010 14:40

:o slattern I think I may steal that one lol

emptyshell · 25/11/2010 14:41

I had the death star one on my status for a couple of days... half my friend list copy and pasted that one.

A "friend" posted every single mothers and British Army one doing the rounds... endlessly - we're talking 5 or 6 of them a day - I don't know how she found so many. She's since hit the nuked from FB friends pile. (always nice to send your friends going through miscarriages messages about how the true meaning of life is only attained via motherhood)

Ragwort · 25/11/2010 14:42

I am so pleased I do not understand FB Smile. It is possible to have a happy, meaningful life without it you know !

5GoldenFimbos · 25/11/2010 14:43

Ragwort that is exactly my dh's comments word for word. Grin

DuelingFanio · 25/11/2010 21:36

it is possible to have a happy and meaningful life with facebook too Grin

sparkleandfade · 25/11/2010 22:03

Automatic removal of friend. Unless special circumstances apply where said person is too funny to unfriend! One of my friend's 4 month old apparantly said "mummy" "I love you" and "Waybuloo" recently. I wasn't sure whether to congratulate her or berate her since said 4 month old is far too young for television Grin

3yrs old: "Mummy, I love you" 10 yrs old: "Mum whatever!" 16 yrs old:"My Mum is so annoying!" 18 yrs old: "I wanna leave this house."25yrs old: "Mum,you were right." 30 yrs old: "I wanna go back to my Mum's house." 50 yrs old: "I dont wanna lose my Mum." 70yrs old: "I would give up ...EVERYTHING for my Mum to be here with... me."YOU ONLY HAVE ONE MUM! Post this on your wall if you appreciate and love your Mum ♥

[boak]

And the one about posting alcohol as a status. My cousin did that and her older sister replied, "I swear if I start getting hundreds of inbox messages we are gonna fall out! DO NOT INCLUDE ME IN THESE THREADS ANYONE!!! I support the cause by donating monthly, these just PISS ME OFF!!!!"

I love my older cousin. She is feisty.

Anniegetyourgun · 25/11/2010 22:08

How many times must I tell you? Facebook is the invention of the devil!

Even my spellchecker doesn't like it. (Mind you it doesn't like the word "spellchecker" either.)

Hassled · 25/11/2010 22:10

FFS. That's the worst I've ever seen, I reckon.

MerryMarigold · 25/11/2010 22:10

You have to say something to that status. It's truly awful. How about something like

..."and 99% of people who post this on their status will spend ridiculous amounts of money on Christmas presents without a thought for the mentally ill, elderly or homeless. If you genuinely care about humankind, you won't really care what country they live in."

Arggggggggggggh
