"Homeless go without food. Elderly go without needed medicines. Mentally ill go without treatment. Troops go without proper equipment. Veterans go without benefits promised to them!!! Yet we donate millions of pounds to other countries before helping our own first! 1% will re-post and ...99% of people on Facebook won't have the guts to re-post this. Do you?"

BARF! I hate this kind of thing. Am struggling to resist replying!

Sorry, Scottish slang, not Irish according to the Urban Dictionary

I defriended for the first time this week. I was ridiculous about it. Felt awful.
But she was banging on about Children in Need money going to people who didnt deserve it and using children with cancer as an example of the real deserving ones.

To be fair it was the piling in of her 'friends' who agreed and went on about people choosing to be poor but not chosing for their kids to have cancer that really did it for me.

I just DO NOT understand people.

Iposted a big rant on my FB update about this sort of thing, which degenerated into an amusing squawking match as one of my friends decided to wind me up by insisting that I had C&P'd the rant, cue me yelling 'I am a PROPER WRYTER and made it up myself' etc.

Oh, the Mum one is awful. Some people lose their parents far younger than fifty and don't much want to be reminded of it when they log in to Facebook. Same with the child abuse ones - how lovely for child abuse survivors who just want to play a bit of Farmville.

The c&p daughter one makes me heave. I do like the dragons one though.

I love them, they're so ridiculous and reactionary some of them.
My favourite was the
GIVE SOLDIERS FOOTBALLERS WAGES!!!!!!!
page. So many idiots.

My FB is currently snowed in apparently. I know more about what bits of Sunderland have what snow than I ever did when I lived up there!

Oh and a steady line of teachers counting getty ups till the holidays - but that's perfectly normal. The friend of mine who hysterically pasted any single mummy and soldier one got nuked long ago - shame because she was a good friend at school but since then she seemed to have slipped to use FB as some desperate attempt to get her entire life validated by some e-cheerleading squad.

I've mentioned it before but she would comment something like "has had an awesome tea cooked by hubby"... then get him to instantly reply (with about 2 seconds gap between it) "yes and I love you and you're worth it snuookums". Oh and if you challenged anything - she'd throw the army wife card in - literally "...is off to Tesco"..."Oh lucky you - I'm an Asda girl myself"..."Don't you know my husband's in the ARMY! And you're telling me I picked the wrong supermarket when he's in the ARMY!!!"

It was making my head mentally explode in the end - after the novelty of keeping her on the list to see how bad the statuses got - I couldn't take it anymore!

I worry about how much information some of my friends give away about themselves though - don't like this "places" thing at all.
