Haven't been to tescos in about a year. Nothing and I mean nothing is where you expect it to be, huge Q's at the tills, loads of people just leaving their trolley in the middle of the aisle, didn't come out with half of what I wanted!

AIBU or have I just been spoilt by Waitrose and farmers markets? The only thing I came out with was chocolate biscuits and bread (as did everyone else around me by the looks of their trolleys!

Oh and I found ants in the raspberries DH bought me on his way home from work in the summer Angry

If it makes you feel better, my 6 month old DS dented their profit by a teeny-tiny amount today, when hemanaged to steal some barbeque marinade. I didn't notice until I was on the train home and found him hugging and singing to it. Grin

Oh, and YANBU.

there are very rarely queues at the tills in Tescos, one of the reasons I prefer it to sainsburys or chavsda.

choufleur · 20/11/2010 19:29

YANBu but I hate Asda more.

taintedpaint · 20/11/2010 19:30

YABU. At least you would be if you lived in my area. Waitrose is horrid around here.

perfumedlife · 20/11/2010 19:30

Hahahaha

ItalianLady · 20/11/2010 19:31

YANBU. I hate them too because they are taking over and all the little local shops are closing Angry.

pugsandseals · 20/11/2010 19:32

All the nice toys and books seem to have gone (the couple of nice ones had all been moved to the end of food aisles). Had none of the cd's or video games I wanted. I went in with a list and even if they had had things in stock, absolutely everything on my list was cheaper on Amazon. Kids clothes were so crammed in I couldn't get a trolley down the aisles!

perfumedlife -

I would totally agree if I lived in the city, but I don't!

I dislike shopping in Tesco too.

Our local one is always crowded and as I have a DS with nut allergy, I can't buy any of their own-brand foods. Even their lemonade and tinned tuna have nut warnings on them Hmm

JuicyLips · 20/11/2010 20:05

Yabu. I love it. but thats discount for ya.

Meglet · 20/11/2010 20:11

I hate Tescos because they kept tidying the bloody trolleys away from the car park so I had to haul a newborn in a car seat and a 2yo across a car park, queue up at customer services so they would get me a baby / toddler trolley - which they had stashed away for some reason. And the manager never responded to my letter asking them to keep some trolleys in the car park area so I haven't been there since.

Our sainsburys is much nicer.

southeastastra · 20/11/2010 20:12

go back to twatrose and you fancy farmers market then Grin

pugsandseals · 20/11/2010 20:14

We got a parking ticket in one of their massive stores once Shock. Apparently we took longer than 2 hours - it was the week before xmas, the shop was heeving and we had a 2 year old in tow too.

I also hate it too and only go there if absolutely necessary.

Ours was quite recently refurbished to become a Tesco Extra meaning that loads of non food at the front of the store and the bread pushed back to the top left hand corner.

The lighting is far too bright and harsh and the whole store is too busy on the eye. With so many unco-ordinated notices hanging from the ceiling.

I would never do a weekly shop there. I tend to pop in for distress items. Occasionally buy clothes there.

I much prefer Sainsburys and our local Sainsburys is far calmer and more sympathetic lighting. Aso think the quality of food there is better.

I also frequent Lidl and do the odd online Sains shop.

thinkingaboutschools · 20/11/2010 21:17

I hate Tesco - they have completely destroyed the centre of our town. I am going to carry on supporting all the little shops!

needtogetalife · 20/11/2010 21:20

I love Tesco, its so handy for me, oh and I adore shopping at Asda, it has everything I want in there Grin

ApricotWorms · 20/11/2010 21:30

YANBU. Their fruit and veg are terrible quality, their ethics are appalling and their staff are generally hugely ignorant.

HannahHack · 20/11/2010 21:34

YABU
You are just subscribing to a trendy, middle class ideal. Tesco wouldn't be so successful if it was rubbish.
Agree with others that it is surprisingly expensive though.

beebuzzer · 20/11/2010 21:34

I usually go to Tesco. I have just done a big shop tonight with £75 of clubcard vouchers we had saved up. I only had to pay £13 for a whole trolly of shopping.

I prefer Tesco to Sainsbury's (apart from the meat which is better in Sainsbury's)

feistychickfightingthebull · 20/11/2010 21:41

loathe it with a passion

Mumcentreplus · 20/11/2010 21:45

I don't like Tescos I think they are more expensive than people think I do shop there occassionally..tis something creepy about it and they can be quite aggressive when it comes to planning permission...plus i get discount at Sainsbo's Grin

Rockbird · 20/11/2010 21:48

I love Tesco.

Sainsburys never has what I need and Asda has too many queues and not enough tills open, every single time I go in there Angry

How can a supermarket be creepy? Hmm. They can be arrogant and aggressive but creepy?
