to be most aggrieved that I did not get married off in the last IPOAT thread? Won't someone think of Nigel?

Well, am I?

Sorry to hear you were poorly Hully Sad so much of the lurgy flying about at the mo. My mum had it too and could not make it here Christmas day so without my folks it was rather a quiet one but lovely all the same Smile The girls made it magical, the first year DD1 has been really aware of it all and soooo excited Grin

Oh pag - shit, bugger and arse about the letter from oxford. At times of real disappointment I tell myself over and over 'it wasn't meant to be and there is a good reason why' I hope DS1 isn't feeling too sad about it x

I felt spoilt, got some pampering spa day vouchers, perfume, books and bit and pieces.

I want to see a pic of the urn Hully!

Hullygully · 06/01/2011 16:08

Gib - it's a very ordinary workaday urn that has been retired from active service and now lives to harbour spiders. But I am most fond of its urnliness.

It was my only present so I am perhaps inordinately fond.

pagwatch · 06/01/2011 16:11

Aw thanks guys.
Pagboy has two offers on the table (as it were) and is awaiting replies from Warwick and Exeter.
He was so disappointed because he thought the interview went ok but I have reminded him that everyone who got to interview had already done bloody brilliantly in the exam so it becomes a bit of a lottery after that.
He is also getting some comfort from the fact that his school are shocked as are his friends. They usually get half a dozen into eng at oxford and he was their strongest candidate. None of them got in.

Anyway. I want an urn.

Yy to wanting to see a picture

Umami · 06/01/2011 16:12

I do not Tweet Hullster, though I occasionally read the tweets of some slebs, for entertainment.

For Christmas I got a new weighing scale for the kitchen. You may well Hmm, but it is a very nice one that I coveted Grin

DS got a nice ear infection, a temp of 40C and then a burst ear drum and some ooze. But he also got lots of Thomas stuff and Calpol and thus was perfectly happy.

I'll tell you what not to google. Vaginal prolapse.

OOOOH! And weirdly I got some umami paste. Do you think FIL is stalking me on here?

pagwatch · 06/01/2011 16:14

Umami paste puts me in mind of maiden juice..

Oooh happy Christmas riven!

Lol at staying close for the cat. Dd keeps getting upset that ds1 will be leaving but he has reassured her that he will be coming back....... to see penis dog Grin.

It's funny riv, ds1 wasn't interested in oxford but got persuaded to go have a look by the school. Once there he just loved it. Pisser really. But he will be fine

It's weird this uni business innit? Makes you realise quite how many bloody genius children there are out there, all fighting to dispossess OUR children who are the best and should be recognised as such.

Bastards.

V exciting, Riv! Something is always breaking, best to just quickly buy something now and then anyway - such a long grim grind otherwise. Me and dh have just had yet another dog walk cum austerity reining in conversation. It makes us feel like we've taken serious and grown-up steps. Then we go and buy something.

Hullygully · 06/01/2011 16:37

Tell us more about dd1 at Camb, Riv. The more spiteful, the better.

I did Eng. I loved it. But at least then we got a three year piss-up on the tax-payer. Them were the days.

BeribbonedGibbon · 06/01/2011 16:40

Goodness knows what I'll be like by uni - am waiting to hear if DD1 got her primary school in April and that's hard enough!

you must all be very proud having such clever children Smile Smile It's lovely to hear them doing so well!
I feel like a fraud when I chat to you lot. I feel like I'm winging it and I'll be lucky if they end up in one piece let alone do so well!

OP posts:
pagwatch · 06/01/2011 16:41

Haha. We do sensible conversations about planning and finance and then go buy shit. .

Does she like her course riven?

God no gibb.

Ds1 tells people happily that he was the child we practiced and made all our mistakes with.

We love how school stuff is going and all that but i sit here every evening waiting for him to come home and tell me that he and his girlfriend are getting married.
Confused.
and he seems to get lazier by the day. And of course i show buttock shots to eight year olds...

We ALL wing it.
