Namechaged obviously. Just in case I am BU Hmm

This morning, ds (20 months) was in bed with me as usual - he wakes at 4 am, comes in my bed and goes back to sleep for another couple of hours.

And, as usual, we started playing etc after much jumping, he performs his favourite thing and lifts up my top to blow raspberries on my tummy! Cue huge giggles from both of us :o

After repeating many times he lifts my top higher then normal and exposes on of my breasts. With that, he has a stupid grin on his face, giggles and presses my nipple with his index finger saying 'beep' (this is what he does when pressing the button at traffic lights)

We both dissolve into giggles and he repeats it 2 or 3 times before I pull my top down and tickle him. I stopped because a) he was getting rough with his excitement and b) it was too cold and said nipple was in danger of freezing off!

Now,I just recounted this mornings antics to my sister and she was horrified!

She said it was 'highly inappropriate' 'perverted' and surely going to set him up for some kind of mother complex.....

She warned me not to tell anyone else because it would seem like abuse and SS may get called Confused

Is she right?

Am I just not seeing how wrong this was?

To me it seemed harmless fun and it's not like I intend to make this part of our morning routine and still whip my boob out when he's 5!

Your sister is an arse.

hedidit · 11/11/2010 10:55

I dont see anything wrong in this, it was just harmless playing.

If you breastfed your child then they are not going to forget mummy's boobies overnight.

My son used to occasionally poke my boob and say boobydoob even when he was that age if i picked him up.

SkylineDrifter · 11/11/2010 10:58

Just a lovely private time between you and your baby. Put behind you what your sister said and just enjoy yourselves.

fortyplus - I assume you mean 17 months?

fortyplus · 11/11/2010 11:03

SkylineDrifter No of course I don't - they're strapping lads of 15 and nearly 17.

They like a hug - they certainly don't still twiddle with my boobs like they did when they were 2 or 3!! They're just unembarrassed about having a hug when I'm naked. Though having said that they are quite private about their own bodies - I don't think I've seen either of them totally naked since they were about 10.

anonymousbird · 11/11/2010 11:04

OP - "She has 3 kids.

I feel a bit sad for them now. I can see why they aren't affectionate with her. She is a little cold"

This is SOOOOO my mum, very unaffectionate, and that made me really sad growing up - my Dad, luckily, made up for it, and was always available for a cuddle whilst watching TV or whatever (all very innocent BTW!) and the biggest thing I promised myself is that I would be affectionate as hell with my kids, why on earth wouldn't you? I want to cuddle and touch them all the time - I sometimes wonder if I go overboard, but I can't keep my hands off them. We kiss and cuddle all the time. I suppose I may have gone to the other extreme than my mum (who is just like your sister).

I get such a rush of yumminess when they come for cuddle or kiss, I can't get enough! Your poor sister and her even poorer kids, what they are missing out on...

IssiNoho · 11/11/2010 11:05

YANBU - DS2 is seven and loves to 'squish Mum's boobies' when he can. And snuggle up to them to watch tv or hear a story. The only reason he doesn't get his hands on my nipples is because it bloody hurts!

I feel sad for people like your sister because they are missing out with their children and passing on body hang-ups to them.

SkylineDrifter · 11/11/2010 11:23

er, ok then fortyplus.

Heracles · 11/11/2010 11:25

Dude, your sister has, like, issuuuuuues.

Heh, nah YANBU.

Replace DS with "the plumber" and she may have a point (or at least the plot to a basic porn flick). Wink

sensiblesusannigella · 11/11/2010 11:32

oh no she didn't!

PerpetuallyAnnoyedByHeadlice · 11/11/2010 11:36

OP, your sister is clearly unhinged, he is 20 months FGS not 9 yrs!!

DS is 5 and still likes snuggling up smelling my boobs or blowing raspberries on my belly - he was bf till 2.5 yrs

thanks to trin for this "she feeds on one and tunes in the radio wth the other" - made me ROFL

PerpetuallyAnnoyedByHeadlice · 11/11/2010 11:38

a 17 yr old cuddling his naked mother is entirely different IMO. i know a 17 yr old who still gets in his parents bed to open birthday cards and stuff, but they are DRESSED!

PerpetuallyAnnoyedByHeadlice · 11/11/2010 11:42

I'm wondering whether the OPs BIL is at the root of this - does he have the opinion that boobs are his sex toys and not for the kids to be messing about with?

SlightlyJaded · 11/11/2010 11:45

Clearly YANBU
My DD, 5 and DS,3 LOVE my boobies. They think they are both hilarious and also soft/warm/snuggly.

The other day, I was kissing DS on mouth (don't get me started of families who don't do mouth kissing) and he poked his tongue into my mouth. I was a bit Hmm and said Yeuk but he thought that was hilarious as well. Innocence doesn't last long. Enjoy it.

It does sound like your sis has a bit of a hang up about it all

systemsaddict · 11/11/2010 11:54

In defence of 40+ my parents slept naked and we grew up with a family culture of 'casual nudism', ie people did used to wander around with nothing on when getting up, dressed, bathing, whatever without thinking twice about it - mum is Scandinavian and this was just the norm for her. Can't actually remember whether there was a great deal of cuddling going on when people happened to be naked when we were in our late teens but can't see that a hug would have been an odd thing, and certainly and absolutely not sexual in any way! I have always secretly thought British people to be very hung up about nakedness at home in the family.

oh and OP agree that your sister is a loon, and I too bf my 20 month old.

Longtalljosie · 11/11/2010 11:57

If your son was 14, your sister would have had a point. But since he isn't, what everyone else said!

HappySlapper · 11/11/2010 11:57

Trinity 15 and 17 year old lads cuddling their naked mother in bed? Words cannot express how wrong that is imo Hmm

The OP obviously completely different.

StealthPoHoHoHo · 11/11/2010 12:01

DS finds my beeping nipples absolutely hilarious, didn't realise it was so common :)

Poledra · 11/11/2010 12:05

Stealth I read that as 'DH finds beeping my........'. Though mid you, my DH isn't above honking my boobs.

OP, my 28-mo DD3 still sticks her hand down my top as a comfort thing when she's tired or poorly. The only reason I stop her fiddling with my nipples when she does this is because it makes my teeth itch, not because I think it's perverted in any way!

StealthPoHoHoHo · 11/11/2010 12:06

Oh DH would find it amusing too no doubt, but he's not there when it happens

TrinityTheTwattyRhino · 11/11/2010 12:40

happyslapper

you do realise that sons dont find their mothers sexual, dont you???

I mean sheesh I can't understand the horror myself

StealthPoHoHoHo · 11/11/2010 12:46

I do find the thought of a 17yo boy coming into his parents' room when they're naked for a cuddle a bit odd I'll admit but I can't get worked up about what other people do :)

HappySlapper · 11/11/2010 12:48

Trinity sorry, I disagree. I have no bodily hang-ups at all, and I have a naked house myself. Hopefully, I'll pass this onto my children. But teenage boys being in bed with naked parents? Of course that is only my opinion, but there is something odd about it.

Guacamole · 11/11/2010 12:51

My brother did this when he was 2 years old to a complete stranger on a beach in Italy. My parents remind him frequently, he's now 31!

PenelopeTitsDropped · 11/11/2010 12:54

Your Sister needs to address her own hangups and issues.

Your play is entirely normal. Her attitude isn't.

I hope to God she doesn't have children.

DinosaurRumpus · 11/11/2010 12:55

I'm expecting DC5 any time now and DS4 (3) understands that I've got a baby in my tummy. I was pointing out to my older children where the baby's back and feet are in my stomach and they were having a feel, when DS4 came up and grabbed a boob in each hand and said 'baby has got two heads' Grin

The innocence is soon gone so YANBU!
