I haven't been on here long and tbh some of the I have read have made me feel really uncomforatble. It seems all someone has to do is ask a genuine question (not even make a 'judement') about a contentious topic e.g. stay at home mum's/working mums, chavvy names, or anything to do with benefits and they are jumped on and ranted at for being ignorant judgemental & ill informed among other things. I don't like it.

I LOVE it here. I find the eloquent foul-mouthery absolutely hilarious and reminds me of the very best nights out with my friends.

newwave · 08/11/2010 21:06

Stangirl, spot on, I host a dinner party about once every six weeks and it always ends up with a good (friendly) row at about 3am when the wine has flowed, to many of my friends are bloody Tories who need educating :o

grannieonabike · 08/11/2010 21:10

Nothing wrong with sucking eggs.

anonymosity · 08/11/2010 21:10

I find I am totally addicted but wish I was not, to Mnet. I despise the bullying and the incredibly rude, "fuck off if you don't like it" etc and think that I should probably post something shocking, get all the ranters ranting and flounce off. But not yet.

iwasyoungonce · 08/11/2010 21:14

Ignored, coolma? You OK?

AnyFucker · 08/11/2010 21:16

coolma ?

who's that then ?

< ahem > Grin

newwave · 08/11/2010 21:27

Then again there are some "Alphas" on here that need carful handling if your of a nervous disposition or easily offended

lollypoplady · 08/11/2010 21:29

Like who? Come on I'm curious now!

Lolly, I am getting enough flak on the "crossing the road" thread I am NOT going to add to it on this one.

AuntiePickleBottom · 08/11/2010 21:32

there is always another site or a switch off button

lollypoplady · 08/11/2010 21:33

Also what's troll hunting? Do people look for threads they think are started by trolls then call them a troll? 'troll hunting' is conjuring up all sorts of funny images in my head Grin

Who are the Alpha-Females?

picklebutty · 08/11/2010 21:37

I'm currently highly strung and "harrassing". Gotta love MN - if they knew me in real life they'd (a) have a different opinion and (b) never be so rude!

CoinOperatedGirl · 08/11/2010 21:40

After being on Mn for years, I think that the majority of Mn'ers are very very conformist. They will conform to societal norms (you DARE break a school rule, especially relating to uniforms) you will be flamed. Plus they conform to Mn rules (non bf, ap, organic, home cookers) will also be flamed.

There are a lot of mners who will state opinions against the majority, but they have to be well known/liked not to be berated for their choices.

It has gotten worse lately, I think a lot of old time mners may have actually just buggered off. Don't blame them really, I get a disitinctly right wing/conformist feel from mn recently, alternative views (wether about rl/mn issues) seem to get short shrift really with trolls galore.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 08/11/2010 21:46

Man, I hate these whingey threads

newwave · 08/11/2010 21:48

COG, spot on.

A lot of "establishment" types, like a moan but "seem" to put up with what is pissing them off, never say what they have done about it.

2shoes · 08/11/2010 21:49

yabu
I actually find threads like this more bullying as they just make everyone paranoid, if you have a problem on a thread bring it up there,.

Heracles · 08/11/2010 21:50

Christ; 'tis the season to be whiney.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 08/11/2010 21:51

Wow, I am In concord with Heracles again

MissBeehiving · 08/11/2010 21:53

Is it half term again already?

Anniegetyourgun · 08/11/2010 21:55

One of the things I like best about World of Warcraft is that I can play a troll who hunts humans Smile

Heracles · 08/11/2010 21:57

Wow, I am In concord with Heracles again

Three in a row and I believe I get to own you as s slave for a week. Wink

mumbar · 08/11/2010 22:11

Theres a lot of experienced long term posters who 'know' each other fairly well. Many will reply to each other with short sharp posts, which to a newbie will seem crass but these posters know each others views, and are just cutting the waffle.

I've never seen it as bullying and sometimes it takes 100 ners telling you YABU to sit back and take stock before making a prat of yourself Grin

Must many are jokes, heavily deguised as serious questions.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 08/11/2010 22:18

I disagree..ok, that was only two in a row Grin

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 08/11/2010 22:19

I don't disagree with mumbar though. Ok, going cross eyed, been awake since 4.45
