Have just signed up to Ocados thing where you pay £3.99 a month a get unlimited deliveries. I though it was a good idea but now they've stopped sending me those nice emails with 15% off my next shop. I only ever got 1/2 deliveries a month and often got the £1.99 late night slots. Dammit, AIBU to think I have just shot muself in the foot financially? PLUS all this talk of free gifts... I can't remember the last time the buggers gave me a free gift! GRRR! Btw, usually spend about £140-£180 per shop if that's relevant.

Hula - waitrose free delivery sounds like the way to go!

MollieO · 07/11/2010 19:56

Moome it is £90 minimum order for the Christmas slot and then they add the £9.99 on top of that. I would be very surprised if your delivery is free. I wonder if you didn't notice the increased cost when you checked out. It isnt mentioned, it just appears on your final figure. I'm off to check out Waitrose!

The only free thing I've got was in an order for my mother when they sent 36 bars of soap rather than 6 (they were packaged in blister packs of 6 bars!).

MollieO · 07/11/2010 19:58

The other thing they do to me is always do more expensive substitutions than the original item I've ordered. Ive never had a same or cheaper substitute. Hmm

Rollmops · 07/11/2010 20:24

Alternate Waitrose and Ocado and get 15% off every other weekGrin
Used my latest 15% off voucher yesterday to order a rather respectable amount of wine at 25% off GrinGrin
So, got 40% off of my vinoGrinGrinGrin

[I did order other stuff as well....honest...Hmm ]

Poor Bella, you thought you were special?

I like that Ocado is 1 hr delivery slots. I get 15% off offers pretty regularly, in fact this week I was waiting for one before doing a big shop (and it came, so I won).

ClaireDeLoon · 07/11/2010 20:33

Christmas week delivery is free if you have been a member of the on demand scheme since something like May 2009.

I got my fifth anniversary bottle of voucher this month too, like GeraldineAubergine.

I haven't had any 15% off vouchers since I joined the delivery pass scheme two years ago. They don't need to, you're signed up anyway.

I did get an email from tescco the other day giving me £7.50 off a delivery as I hadn't shopped with them for so long.

NettieSnowBalls · 07/11/2010 20:48

another delivery pass customer, i must say ive been really happy with service but no freebies here either of money off vouchers.

Got christmas delivery christmas week but also paid £9.99.

Id love free wine or custard creams im not fussy Grin

(free boden catalogue here too Sad)

This is just a guess, but:

If you were a supermarket, wouldn't you offer money off to a customer when a customer who lived near them had ordered a delivery? Would save you money in petrol, so you'd recoup what you'd offered as 'savings' to the customer.

If someone has paid for multiple deliveries already then you're less likely to offer them money off as they've already paid for their transport costs.

In fact, if you do pay in advance, it's likely that your neighbours will be the ones getting the money off vouchers, every time you order.

So cheers for that :)

:( Just checked and Waitrose don't deliver to me. :( and I haven't had any 15% off offers for months either.

I'm wondering what I've done to upset the Ocado Gods now! :(

newbeliever · 07/11/2010 21:17

Free natural yoghurt this week, have also had the spicy rice cakes and choccy bars in the past - no wine yet . . .

MollieO · 07/11/2010 23:29

Well I've been a member of the on demand scheme since the month it started. Think I need to email them and find out what's going on Hmm

TmiEdward · 07/11/2010 23:38

I had a delivery today.
Driver had sat outside my house for 45 mins because we were out! (Delivery booked for 2pm, he arrived at 1.36pm, we came home at 1.55pm)

I think we had an accidental freebie too. I'd ordered 3 tubes of toothpaste (£1 each, down from £2.09) and there were 4 tubes in my bag. Bargain! Not quite as exciting as free wine though...
