Ocado again

Have just signed up to Ocados thing where you pay £3.99 a month a get unlimited deliveries. I though it was a good idea but now they've stopped sending me those nice emails with 15% off my next shop. I only ever got 1/2 deliveries a month and often got the £1.99 late night slots. Dammit, AIBU to think I have just shot muself in the foot financially? PLUS all this talk of free gifts... I can't remember the last time the buggers gave me a free gift! GRRR! Btw, usually spend about £140-£180 per shop if that's relevant.

Free wine? What do you have to do to get that? Shag the delivery driver?

c0rns1lk · 06/11/2010 21:44

I used to be with them and never got anything free and they were often earlier than the arranged delivery time, which was annoying. I refused to order with them again after they wanted a ridiculous amount for the pleasure of a christmas delivery slot. Guess what - now I've cancelled my account I get loads of 15% off emails Hmm

LittlePickleHead · 06/11/2010 21:47

Yes I've also signed up to on demand and no longer get the discount vouchers.
Still getting freebies quite regularly (often seems to be stage 1 baby food which is annoying as DD is 19 months...although we also get nice stuff as well) and we got a free bottle of wine for our anniversary of shopping there!

Problem is, I'm so used to something free that whenever there isn't anything I feel really pissed off about it, especially if I've spent more than usual!

moomiemoo · 06/11/2010 21:50

We use the delivery pass and I LOVE it. Get something free in about half my shops, get 2 deliveries a week (not hard to get to £40 with 2 in nappies) and got a free Christmas eve slot. They're always on time or phone if they're early and the drivers are so polite.

I don't work for them (honest) but think they should put me on commission as I'm always raving about them!

Oh and I got a free bottle of wine to celebrate the second anniversary of my ever first shop!

bellavita · 06/11/2010 21:54

I don't mind them being early. I usually book an evening slot to get the cheaper price, so if they ring and ask to deliver earlier - I am always eager to accept Grin

MrsDinky · 06/11/2010 21:55

Bellavita the only freebie I've ever had is a yogurt though. Maybe I don't spend enough.

I like the arriving early, I book the after 10 slot to get cheapest delivery and they normally phone and turn up at 9ish which is when I really want it.

MollieO · 06/11/2010 22:01

moomie a free Christmas eve slot?? Something else I didn't get. I've been charged £9.99 for mine. Hmm

bellavita · 06/11/2010 22:09

I love yoghurt, eat tons of the stuff Envy

MrsJohnDeere · 06/11/2010 22:15

Regret signing up for the Ocado on demand thing here. 9.99 per month and I never get any freebies or discounts (other than

1 bottle if wine on the anniversary of my first ocado order).

MrsDinky · 06/11/2010 22:20

Yogurt or wine, which is best? It was one of those ones with soggy muesli in the bottom, I love yogurt too, but this was not nice.

c0rns1lk · 06/11/2010 22:20

I use waitrose now - it's free

Sitdownandstopwhining · 06/11/2010 22:22

We've had to pay for our xmas eve slot too. And I pay 9.99 a month as well.

Do get an occasional freebie, but the new bags are shit (why can't we have returnable boxes Ocado Annie? ) and they forgot something this week, but I didn't realise until after the 24 hours were up (DH had unpacked...).

bellavita · 06/11/2010 22:23

The wine then would be more preferable in that case....

Cornsilk, we now have a brand new Waitrose in our town (I popped in this morning for the first time, I felt I had died and gone to heaven Grin) and I have taken them up on their £0 delivery, plus £5 off, with £10 and £15 off the following orders.

TmiEdward · 06/11/2010 22:26

I signed up for the year-in-advance free delivery pass, when they had it at a special price in the summer.
I don't get money off vouchers anymore, and the only freebies are promo items, like one hobnob biscuit bar, or a soap sachet.
It's bobbins.

bellavita · 06/11/2010 23:15

Farking Hell, I have realised I hadn't read my emails today and I have one from Ocado Shock saying it is our 2nd birthday together and the next time I shop with them I can have a bottle of wine Shock

Grin
Simbacatlives · 06/11/2010 23:15

Free wine- basically don't shop with them for 2 weeks and they send you a code for free cloudy bay. I alternate wait rose and ocado- so get wine pretty much every month.

Get wine on anniversary as well.

In sainsburys today voucher printed for free sanitary towels! Usually it's £10 off £100. Won't be going there again for a while.

MollieO · 06/11/2010 23:38

I only shop with them every two or three weeks. I like wine. Why don't they give me any? Haven't even got wine on anniversary either and I've been with them since the start.

TheDailyWail · 06/11/2010 23:43

I got a free packet of stock cubes today. For my 5 year anniversary I got a bottle of port.

thomsc · 07/11/2010 01:48

wow, free wine. With Tesco you just get a free Daily Mail.

I think there might only be one copy per van, and the driver just takes it when you hand it back to him and puts it in the next delivery.

I had not heard of this £9.99 a month thing, I'm off to investigate, that would save me a bundle.

moomiemoo · 07/11/2010 07:45

I think I needed to spend £90 to get a free slot so did a random shop of a very pricey beef joint and sparkling wine to hold my slot - although thinking about it that sounds like a good Christmas!

GeraldineAubergine · 07/11/2010 08:12

I got five year anniversary email today and free wolf blass wine voucher :)

Sitdownandstopwhining · 07/11/2010 08:16

Moomie, I had to do £90 to hold my slot, but still had to pay. Now I just have to remember to do my Christmas shop otherwise it will be one bottle of champagne each for me a DH and half for each child. But no food.

whatshallmynamebe · 07/11/2010 08:26

I also had to pay £9.99 for my Christmas slot as well, and I have put an order in for £140. Maybe it is because I got On Demand on special offer last year rather than at full price.

Got my voucher for wine yesterday as it is my first anniversary.

I agree with the poster who said that all they get as freebies is baby food in the wrong age group. Although yesterday they did accidentally deliver a packet of custard creams, but DH has scoffed most of them Angry

Hulababy · 07/11/2010 08:48

£3.99 a month? I pay £9.99 monthly now my special offer ran out.

Ocado Xmas slots were/are £9.99 again. Have refused tonpay. I give them enough. Have reserved a free waitrose Xmas delivery instead :)

Hulababy · 07/11/2010 08:55

We do get a fair few freebies though - wine, cereal bars, chocolate, etc.
