First of all dont get me wrong, i understand some people come on here for support etc so thats fine. Im mainly talking about AIBU any way, youve got to expect to get shot down on here i think. I like watching/commenting on good old heated debates! Much more fun to watch than Awwwww bless you, you poor thing Hmm

So who's with me and who's probably going to tell me to DO ONE! lol

(btw, yes i know my punctuation is shite, i dont care!)

Masochist!

That is part of the beauty of the site- most people can moderate their arguments and don't need outside interference.

piscesmoon · 03/11/2010 19:21

If people genuinely want help I think they get it. If they post on AIBU they can't expect everyone to say that they are not. Many will tell them, loud and clear, that they are unreasonable. It is a good thing if it makes them think.

QueenGigantaurofMnet · 03/11/2010 19:23

the reason there are different area's of MN is so that you can muster a different response.

if you post in SN then the chances are you are lookng for support from like minded people.

post in Bereavment and you are wanting some sympathy and advice.

post in AIBU and you are opening yourself for a barrage of "don't be a twatt"

i think it is only right and fair that it works this way.

YANBU for enjoying that

gelflingirl · 03/11/2010 19:25

Thank you guys, my point exactly!!!

Fuck off.

PortoTreasonAndPlot · 03/11/2010 19:29

I like it too. Being abroad, I really miss the day to day office banter. The Belgian sense of humour is somewhat lacking - well at least as far as what I can UNDERSTAND is concerned. MN is like a little slice of the UK for me.

It's all covered - births, deaths, work, kids, general loveliness, uber bitchiness, and the odd loon thrown in for good measure. Plus a bunch of strangers with a fantastic sense of humour. What's not to like?

NotAnotherBrick · 03/11/2010 19:32

YANBU

It's one of the things I like about it too. Calling a spade a spade; and actually getting some honest reactions is all good.

It can be upsetting sometimes, so don't post in AIBU if you're feeling fragile.

piscesmoon · 03/11/2010 19:33

Some people take themselves so seriously once they become a parent it is a good thing to have people poke fun or take an opposite point of view. You don't survive parenthood without a sense of humour.

gelflingirl · 03/11/2010 19:36

where are all the MNers that get so offended so quickly and easily?? and accuse people of bullying? I mean whats that about?? You can just turn your computor off or tell them to do one or go on another thread.......... just think some people are so highly strung in this annoying PC world!!

I have been offended and upset on MN plenty of times...but I just pick myself up and leap right back in; knowing that it's my reaction - my problem!

I've also learnt a great deal from other MNer's honesty.

shimmerysilverghosty · 03/11/2010 19:43

What site is that LeQueen, PM me if you don't want to say on here, I love goggling at stuff like that Grin.

shimmerysilverghosty · 03/11/2010 19:45

Oh and in answer to OP, I love a good bunfight. I don't often get involved though as rowing even on the internet makes me feel rubbish. Only thing that will get me frothing and dishing out verbal is anything against SN.

gelflingirl · 03/11/2010 19:48

Youve been offended really?? i just cant imagion letting anyone on here bother me, if my DH or B/F (thats best friend not boy friend lol) were to tellme straight and it wasnt my POV then maybe.

Any way i like the fact that you dont whinge about it all day and start thread upon thread about how MNers are so mean etc.

OP posts:
NotAnotherBrick · 03/11/2010 19:56

Yes, of course, if I've posted about something that means a lot to me and people have written very personal things. Of course that's upsetting.

But it doesn't mean I don't like MN for it. I'd rather be upset sometimes but know that people are honest; than everything be sweetness and light but know (because life isn't like that) that actually everyone is telling a bunch of lies!

NotAnotherBrick · 03/11/2010 19:57

In fact, I'd be less offended if DH or my BF said something straight to me; because I'd think that they were probably saying it after much deliberation and probably believing it to be in my best interests, knowing me very well. It might hurt a bit, but I don't think I'd be offended.

gelflingirl · 03/11/2010 20:03

Yeah i guess so fair point.

OP posts:
janajos · 03/11/2010 20:40

No, love it!! Wink

wukterWOOO · 03/11/2010 20:47

Straight talking is fine.
Banter is good.
2 - way bitching is excellent Grin

But I hate to see everyone piling in for a kicking like a flock of savage sheep.

mountainmonkey · 03/11/2010 20:49

I don't like the bitchiness so much but I do like it that people are very honest and straight talking. If honesty sometimes comes across as bitchiness then so be it. I do find arguments somewhat tedious though- especially if they deviate from the point of the OP.

CoteDAzur · 03/11/2010 20:50

YANBU.

spikeycow · 03/11/2010 20:54

I don't mind a ruck but not when it's a whole thread against one lone sod. And I don't like the invalidating that goes on. "I had this experience"
"No you are wrong"
"Er, no, it's my opinion ON MY OWN EXPERIENCE"
"Well you are thick then"
