I sent this to headquarters. If anyone wishes to support me great, if not well at least I tried

Hi there. It seems there is a certain amount of online bullying that happens on your website. Certain posters seem able to make very offensive comments and then either get away with it or if challeneged, they are viciously defended by their 'supporters'. I am sure this is not the culture you would wish to promote on your website and I feel tempted to report this elsewhere. I still believe that to say 'women who give up career choices they are stupid aren't they' should not be encouraged on your website where many SAHM post and do not wish to be labelled as stupid collectively. I would not make such sweeping generalisations about any group. Thank you for your time

"Honestly, sometimes your best friend on MN is the 'Hide' button, OP. That's what I do when I don't like the way a thread is going. Puff, it's gone, and I don't have to worry about it any more."

I agree abr1de

I also type out 'oh you fucking smug twat . you should just......etc etc'

and then delete it.

It is like a silent scream. Probably a bit mad.

GrimmaTheNome · 03/11/2010 12:02

OK, ok

Next time you see a well, don't jump in.
(this could be advice to the OP too Grin)

I'd diagree with rainy in that it is quite possible to be bullied online- I have been bullied at uni and it was horrid but some of the comments I have ahd on ehre have caused me to take long breaks recently.

however theya re only teh real extremes and whilst I vociferously disagree with opinion in OP, I won't sweat it. There was one about no man can respect a SAHM as well. Dh laughed. Then got annoyed at being told what he things.

ShirleyGunpowderPlot · 03/11/2010 12:07

I didn't jump GOML pushed me. She is o-over.

OVER I SAY.

VinegarTits · 03/11/2010 12:07

VinegarTits · 03/11/2010 12:09

oh yes mines in a draw somewhere pride of place on the mantlepiece

VinegarTits · 03/11/2010 12:09

shit wrong thread

muddleduck · 03/11/2010 12:11

this whole thread was worth it just to bring us cat lassie Grin

EdgarAirbombPoe · 03/11/2010 12:12

i often delete the more offensive parts 'ffs' Angry and 'Oh please' often get sent to the editor in the ether...

it's just not worth it - if you're so annoyed you can't argue back rationally, you should probably find something else to do.

GrimmaTheNome · 03/11/2010 12:13

VT, your post made perfect sense on this thread - cats are often found in drawers or on mantlepieces.

MsSparkle · 03/11/2010 12:36

mn Is infamous for being bitchy, I don't think I have ever read an article to say otherwise.

It is what it is, you can't change it. Some threads are really supportive but alot are not.

The threads that are 1000 posts long are the ones where someone starts off with moan then everyone jumps on the band wagan.

When people post with a genuine problem where there is no chance of a bitch, the thread will be about 5 replies. Post something that is bait for a bitch, the thread will be 1000 posts. Thats just mn. Nothing you can do about it.

ShirleyGunpowderPlot · 03/11/2010 12:41

er,
that's not true actually MsSparkle.

There are supportive threads which runs for YEARS with 1000's of messages being posted.

There is a huge amount of support on Mumsnet, just not so much on AIBU.

VinegarTits · 03/11/2010 12:43

mssparkle you have just harped on about people jumping on the bandwagon to add their tuppence worth and that exactly what you have just done here Hmm

GrimmaTheNome · 03/11/2010 12:44

She's allowed to demonstrate her point, isn't she? Grin

ThighsBurntOnABigRocket · 03/11/2010 12:46

And then someone replies to MsSparkle with a Hmm and a moan!! (no offence VT, just funny!)

VinegarTits · 03/11/2010 12:47

not moaning just pointing out her contradiction

I love Cat Lassie.

Although perhaps would've loved it a bit more if Cat Lassie had been washing its bum all casual-like before retiring to bed.

Am odd, maybe.

GrimmaTheNome · 03/11/2010 12:50

True, unfortunately - but if bullying of that nature occurred on MN, I have confidence it would be squashed and the perpetrators banned.

newlurker · 03/11/2010 13:01

If you are talking about the SAHHM/part time workers - any regrets thread then I do not really see the problem. AIBU attracts - very strong differences of opinion. I would just ignore a thread if I did not like the content.
Agree that cyber bullying does exist- but don't think this qualifies as bullying.
