I am quite new and keep seeing references to the mumsnet "heavies" on other threads. Am intrigued. Who are these people please?
"Heavy" because of strong opinions? Especially articulate posters? Nasty?
Or dos it refer to people officially involved with the actual running of musnet?
Please enlighten. I'd love to know who they are and why so called.

I will also admit to not knowing a couple of the people on shiney's list. And there a couple that I've seen, certainly recognise the names but could tell you bog all about them.

So maybe we each have our own list of MN royalty and it matches only our own ideas.

Mine is a bit of paper with Hully written on it. She's the messiah.

MumBarTheDoorZombiesAreComing · 31/10/2010 15:09

Oh the list Grin

I only recognised a few, Riven, Aitch and greensleves.

I notice you the most Riven - thats not a bad thing btw just that you always post what you think and feel and don't change your stance. You have your POV and stick to it and secretly (or no so now) admire that.

I also seem to always notice some other posters not on the list - and 2shoes your one of those so don't dispair Grin.

Can never wait for one of TSC one liners either. I have to make sure I don't have food or drink in my mouth when her read her replies or it ends up over the keyboard. Smile

Wouldn't descibe anyone as a 'heavy' though. Just some posters who are very visual on certain forum areas. Sometimes I think its the more experienced posters/ mums. EG I'm a mum with one DS whos only 6yo and sometimes I get hysterical a bit cross with things and someone will come a long and point out that in the grand scheme of things its not important and to get a grip fight my battles. Grin

Just like being back at school, having to survive with bullies and not having your voice heard. Take the "Mum" out and just have Net.

MumBarTheDoorZombiesAreComing · 31/10/2010 15:20

But there aren't 'bullies' are there? Yes the more well known posters are often heard more but you just have to live with that.

I do remember once posting something in reply to a thread and then 2 pages later a more well known poster posted exactly the same and the next 15 posts were all oh xxxx thats so right, good insight etc and I thought Hmm but I said that already and then thought well, if I can think like the mn royalty more popular posters maybe one day I'll be one Grin

AlpinePony · 31/10/2010 15:23

Not totally ironic that the majority of this thread has been populated by what some might term as the "mn heavies". Lots of very Lady MacBeth "oh I wouldn't know mn royalty if it slapped me in the face with a Ocado delivered organic trout".

SarfEasticated · 31/10/2010 15:25

It's all down to the luck of where you are on the thread I think, whether anyone actually refers to your post or not. I love it when someone quotes me, but it doesn't happen often. Most post are really just replying to the OP so you shouldn't ever feel like you are being ignored.
Some thread do get heated, so you either get stuck in or leave, I don't think people bear a grudge much though.
i do find the name changing rather annoying though, can never work out who is who.

alpine who would decribe the posters on this thread as 'heavies'? Sorry but thats a load of crap. Ues there are many well known and popular posters on here (not me I hasten to add) but if people actually stpped and bothered to read their replies you'd notice they are experienced and well informed - and more importantly you may actually learn something.

Christ I missed this thread because I foolishly spent time doing arsing jigsaw puzzles with my children.

MumBarTheDoorZombiesAreComing · 31/10/2010 15:35

Don't worry yuno I missed most as had to go out this morning with DS. 2 pairs of shoes, 2 pairs of winter trousers, a waterproof and new glasses later I am at home mning and refusing to feed engage with him for fear this would encourage him to flourish and grow again which I just can't afford. GoreRenewed · 31/10/2010 15:38

No such thing.

There are MNers who tend to hunt in packs Grin But they are largely harmless.

Ideally try not to be a twat, too repetitive, banal or post unpleasant opinions and they stay off the scent.

You don't need the "la", Mumbar.

Hullygully · 31/10/2010 15:54

Has anyone heard tell of the "K" list?

Mumcentreplus · 31/10/2010 15:56

It's probably better that we don't. People get all riled up.

Sorry, everyone. Please forget about the "K" list forthwith.
