To be shocked by this

My brother got attacked and mugged last night walking home from the cinema. The thing that surprises me is that the muggers were all girls. He reckons they were 17-18 yo and they punched him to the floor (he has a couple of nasty bruises on his face and some on his chest ). AIBU to be surprised that girls are going round attacking and robbing teenage boys (db is 14 btw).

Sadly its the way things are these days. :(

DurhamDurham · 27/10/2010 14:38

How awful, I've two teenage girls and cannot believe that girls their age are doing that kind of thing. Hope he's ok Sad

OTTMummA · 27/10/2010 14:39

Where i grew up there were a few cases of girls luring other girls to places to get gang raped by a group of lads Sad

How much worse can it get????

Im sorry about your brother, hope he's ok?

capricorn76 · 27/10/2010 14:39

Not surprised at all. Girls are just as likely to have been badly brought up as boys. I've seen girls swinging for men, drunk off their heads and just as violent as many out of control boys unfortunately. Hope your brother's okay.

scurryfunge · 27/10/2010 14:39

Oh your poor brother. Did he report it?

huddspur · 27/10/2010 14:39

Poor dbSad, sadly I'm not surprised as the number of girls joining gangs has increased exponentially in the last few years.

lerole · 27/10/2010 14:44

He'll be alright and he loves playing the wounded soldier. He has reported it, I think they were that violent because he refused to cooperate and hand over his phone and wallet. But still I'm surprised that girls are going round praying on young boys.

Not unreasonable at all. It is shocking indeed. Hope the lad is OK.

OTTMummA · 27/10/2010 14:48

But in a way lerole they are easier pray,
espcially young, intelligent looking unconfidant teenage boys.

Its sad i know, but we will only start seeing more and more.

ZombieChickensHaveNoMercy · 27/10/2010 14:54

Your poor db :( I'd say they were more likely to attack a lad on his own. Less likely to fight back.

Surprise · 27/10/2010 14:55

where do you live lerole? Is it commonplace to have girl gangs nearby? Hope your brother soon recovers x

lerole · 27/10/2010 14:55

Live in Bradford

Mowiol · 27/10/2010 14:57

Hope he's OK? - they may have been playing on the fact that he probably wouldn't hit a girl.
Nasty incident for him though - glad he reported it.

Mishy1234 · 27/10/2010 15:04

What absolute swines. Agree that they pick on guys on their own and no doubt play on the fact he wouldn't hit back because they're girls.

I hope he's ok.

lerole · 27/10/2010 15:06

Yeah he is quite small for his age and he was on his own at 11 (silly boy) but I was just surprised as I'm only 23 and when I was 17, I don't remember any girls being in gangs but maybe I had a sheltered existence.

lazarusb · 27/10/2010 15:08

My ds was 16 when he was mugged (by a group of boys) but it took him 2 years to go into alone again in the evening. I hope your brother is ok, not too badly hurt and gets the support he needs to regain his confidence. I also hope the Police identify this group of girls - but based on ds's experience I wouldn't hold out a lot of hope.[hangry]

wouldliketoknow · 27/10/2010 15:10

i find hard to understand how anyone would do something like that....
but sadly, yes yabu to be shock as girls, not being little angels in pink dresses... they are capable of being as agressive as boys are.

Poor lad Sad

lerole · 27/10/2010 15:26

I guess your all right and girls can be as nasty or agressive as boys and he was very vulnerable.

OP posts:
tetrea · 27/10/2010 15:55

YABU not all girls are nice unfortunately your db was an easy target and they pounced on them. Your brothers refusing to cooperate was not the right thing to do as it generally ensures a kicking.

Hope your brother gets better soon.

spookerv1xen · 27/10/2010 15:55

what horrible bitches :(

popelle · 27/10/2010 17:24

YABU 17-18 year old girls can be as agressive as their male counterparts OP.

alphamummy · 27/10/2010 17:27

:( i live in bradford too. This make me very sad.

ExtraordinarySandwiches · 27/10/2010 18:26

Not surprised. I got randomly punched when just getting off a night bus at around 10.30 pm when on a rare night out when I was pregnant. It was a group of teenage girls hanging about outside a KFC. It really scared me, I was about 6 months pg at the time and big as a house. All I could do was waddle home and cry. Luckily it wasn't any more than a punch and they didn't come after me. This was in Crouch End where it is supposed to be posh!

I hope your DB is ok and they didn't hurt him too much.
