A Cath Kidston factory vomitted on me. I deserve compensation.

Just look at the state of me. It's stained. I've tried the carwash, Oven Pride, white wine vinegar. Nothing gets it out. I'm afflicted damn you. And with the bloody stumps, tbh, I'm a laughing stock.

I've grudgingly accepted it. This is how I look now. On the cusp of 30, tired, florally-challenged. What's more, I can admit that it will probably only get worse.

But if there's one thing you MNers can do for me. If there's a single, easy, manageable thing it's this.

Vote Stumps.

The Hallowe'en namechange competitions is as good as over wide open. Have sympathy.

I look this ridiculous so you don't have to.

You're a little bit bonkers aren't you? Grin

I like my mumsnetters a little bit bonkers!

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 23/10/2010 11:25

Bonkers sounds like quite a nice way of putting it. Yes, I am bonkers. Only on here though. IRL I'm quite dull, all Cath Kidston ponchos and straw hat combos aside.

Aherm.

Even my 3yr old judges me.

Too late Show of BS, I've already done the deed... [hwink]

bramblebooks · 23/10/2010 14:25

Yes and on me too. I am positively buried in CK florophanalia.
I can't go past their shop without being forcibly yanked in and made to buy stuff either.
To make it worse, the Emma Bridgewater factory shop is on my route to my bro's house. It would be very rude of me to refuse to have a coffee and fresh cake on their sofas next to the spotty aga.

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 23/10/2010 14:37

bramblebooks, it's terrible isn't it?

There's a village local to us that has nothing in it apart from a handful of houses, a very local pub and then there's this shop. It's Cath Kidston and Emma Bridgewater a go go. And all sorts of other whimsical, twee, frou frou nonsense. The owners have built a tea shop on the side with all sorts of cupcakes and bunting strewn about the place. They knew exactly what they were doing. People flock there in their tens hundreds to spend £17.50 on a spotty handled teaspoon. It's like an illness plaguing the middle classes.

I must just point out that in the picture on my profile I had been up since 6am and dancing for most of it. And we were camping. I don't usually look quite so wild-eyed and unfetching.

HauntingTheTardis · 23/10/2010 15:17

I voted for you [creep emoticon].

HammerMouseOfHorrors · 23/10/2010 15:23

[hgrin]

Show - you are actually as mad as a box of mexican jumping frogs aren't you? [hgrin]

Last time I looked, Vinny was in the lead....... Loving your profile and your current read!!!

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 23/10/2010 15:26

HauntingTheTardis, you are my favourite. Grin

I'm not mad. I'm incomplete. I'm missing a Cath Kidston day bag.

Vinny was always going to win it. She's brillig. Smile

OP posts:
HammerMouseOfHorrors · 23/10/2010 15:28

I love your name too, but I'm afraid Vinny's is genius!!

Maybe we could all have a whip round for you Show? Club together to complete you? [hgrin]

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 23/10/2010 15:32

But Vinny already has a decent name to work with. I chose my name on a damn whim and I'm stuck with it. I can do bugger all with it. This is the best it will ever be.

Can I just remind you all, I come with a . I've been thinking about this since July. It's a multi-sensory approach.

And my threat promise stands. If I win, I will post a picture of me naked save for the strategically placed day bag. Don't vote for me and there will be nothing to hide behind. And don't say I didn't warn you.

OP posts:
HammerMouseOfHorrors · 23/10/2010 16:29

[hgrin]

at the thought of a naked Show without said bag to hide her blushes!!

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 23/10/2010 16:51

Don't Grin. It's not pleasant. Honestly, grown men have cried at the sight.

Tears of pure joy, I am sure!

vintage4 · 23/10/2010 18:51

i love a bit of cupcakebunting look and have Autumn bunting at my front door and in the kitchen and all my home has been Autumafied

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 23/10/2010 19:32

I do have some bunting in dd's bedroom. But I made it myself so that's okay right?

MumBarTheDoorZombiesAreComing · 23/10/2010 19:40

Is there a halloween name competition thread?? Have I missed this?? Linky here and I can yote [hgrin]

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 23/10/2010 19:53

Here

Don't go voting for them others now will you?

OP posts:
RustyBear · 23/10/2010 19:58

But if it hadn't been for your name, I never would have discovered Show of Hands, and now the only thing my iPhone has more of is Murray Gold's Doctor Who music.

(I voted for you, btw)

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 23/10/2010 20:04

Oh RustyBear I'm really pleased. Show Of Hands are so very good. Smile And thank you for voting for me. I don't know if you read it on a thread the other day, but I think your dd is absolutely beautiful. I love her hair colour.

OP posts:
RustyBear · 23/10/2010 20:13

I did, yes, sorry I didn't acknowledge the compliment before.

I really don't know how Show of Hands had managed to pass me by, because I've been an Albion Band fan for years, but I never actually worked out where Steve Knightley had gone.

Though in my defence, in 1991 when he left, I was rather busy producing my beautiful DD...

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 23/10/2010 20:23

It was Phil that was in the Albion Band. Grin

I think Steve was a teacher for a while before SOH.

I love the Albion Band too. But then I'm a predictable old folkie.

OP posts:
RustyBear · 23/10/2010 20:42

Yes, of course it was, I was thinking Phil but my fingers wrote Steve,,,, Blush

They all seem to circulate though don't they - I remember the LP cover on the History of Fairport with a massive family tree, showing how all the various members came and went, with Steeleye & various other spinoff bands-it ends with the Albion band just recording their first album.

ShowOfBloodyStumps · 23/10/2010 20:53

They're all related. It's lovely. If a bit incestuous. Grin Part of what I love about folk
