I have just bought my first Mulberry handbag?

Meh.

Posted a thread about unnecessary handbag pride the other day here

discobeaver · 19/10/2010 20:45

Thought you were gonna say you shagged a 21 year old or something. Or that your boobs pass the pencil test.

Pixie83 · 19/10/2010 20:51

So do you mean you are proud that you have restrained yourself for 41 years before buying one, or that it's taken you that long to save up? Grin

lorelilee · 19/10/2010 20:53

GMajor - you will not burst my bubble - I will not allow it! :)

Disco - I was 21 when I was last able to do that!

OP posts:
rubyslippers · 19/10/2010 20:53

What did you get?

GMajor7DeadlySins · 19/10/2010 20:54

Grin Couldn't resist!

lorelilee · 19/10/2010 20:56

Pixie - 41 years before I would allow myself to buy one as couldn't justify the expense before. Not that I can now, but I though - fuck it, I'm worth it!

Chrysanthemum5 · 19/10/2010 21:18

Sounds lovely. I received a bayswater for my 42nd birthday this year and I love it

SunnyDays06 · 19/10/2010 21:21

Ooooh lovely!! Congratulations Grin

TheNextMrsDracula · 19/10/2010 21:22

Handbag love is something that has s-l-o-w-l-y crept up on me.

While the dcs were young I lugged about the obligatory rucksack, bursting with breadsticks, crayons and spare pants, and never gave a thought to arm candy, but as time wore on I began to secretly crave something nicer to carry around.

I don't actually have any posh bags, you understand, but I now can sort of see why it's such a thrill to finally have a Mulberry.

Enjoy it!

nomedoit · 19/10/2010 21:35

Congratulations!

(Looks at watch and wonders how long before the pursed lip/hemp undies/give it to charadee brigade jump all over the OP)

thehat · 19/10/2010 21:43

I am sooooooo envious!

lorelilee · 20/10/2010 12:41

sorry ladies, got it at Outlet shop, think they have discontinued but think, black suede all over but with a 10 inch patent band around the middle (top to bottom) and a gun metal grey clasp - oooh I love it!

Shrine - that one sounds beautiful!

OP posts:
moomoo1967 · 20/10/2010 13:31

OMG they look absolutely gorgeous, but the one I have just googled is £695 !!! Thats more than my months rent :(

lorelilee · 20/10/2010 16:45

As I said, I got it in the Outlet shop and it was 'only' £455. The group of friends I was with gave me an advance on my birthday present (next July :)) and so it only cost ME £255. I could never have hoped to afford it otherwise. I will use it every day though and get more than my money's worth.

proudnscary · 20/10/2010 16:49

I got a Mulberry at the age of 39 so there, beat you by two years, ner ner ner ner ner

proudnscary · 20/10/2010 16:51

(mine's a tan Roxanne and it's absolutely knackered already. My friend poured a bottle of red wine over it the first weekend I had it which genuinely taught me a thing or two about coveting material possessions too much!)

Pinkjenny · 20/10/2010 16:53

I got mine at 33, so

I have the Mitzy Hobo in black. I am gazing adoringly at it now. I got mine from Selfridges, was v. exciting.

I also have an Anya Hindmarch, but I think they're a bit dated now, really. Am hoping it will be a classic in years to come.

p.s. Mine was a sweetener as dh went to the World Cup for two weeks this year, leaving me with dd and ds Grin
