Great, glad you have a handbag.

The rest of us will just carry on dealing with the cuts, being generaly poor etc.

Unless this is a joke??? As you were...

Joolyjoolyjoo · 21/10/2010 00:46

Wow! I've entered into a parallel universe!!

Not only do I not get the whole pay-a-fortune-for-a-bag thing, I don't even know what a mulberry is! So, I'm afraid I can't be suitably impressed, but if it is something you have always wanted, I'm glad you got it!

(but...how much fun can you actually have with a handbag?? Confused)

I bought mine at 21- 22 years ago. It cost £69 in the liberty sale. I still have it.

My current one is a big black Daria hobo however I have just had surgery and can't lift anything over 6 lbs. My son weighed iit and it was 10lbs. Apparently it has to go and live with my teenage daughter now.

Ms Faithless - it was a bit of lighthearted relief from all the horror stories. Believe me I am VERY far from rich - I earn under £30K and have to keep 4 of us. I just chose to save and then spend the little bit of 'me' money I have on nice things.

NordicPrincess · 21/10/2010 10:57

i love handbags, I used to get a new one 3 times a year with my student loan. Not expensive ones but nice none the less. Now I have a broken hand bag and no monay to replace it.

Shag a 21yo, or the pencil test?

FGS give her a break. She has treated herself to something and loves it. What is wrong with that? It doesn't mean she has too much money, it doesn't mean that she won't feel the cuts, it also doesn't mean she is rich. But even if the above were true, does it matter - is it wrong for Lorelille to enjoy something if you can't afford it?

If you read the thread you will also see half of it was an advance on her birthday present.

Some of us spend money on other 'treats' or ask for other presents, the OP wanted a bag - different things make different people happy!

I love mulberry bags and really hope you enjoy yours too Lorelille. My DP bought me a purse last month and I love it.

anonymousbrainsnatcher · 21/10/2010 11:09

what kucking said.
I don't have any spare cash, so could not possibly contemplate buying one, but OP is clearly seriously thrilled, it's a really big deal for her, one she has waited 41 years for, so good for her. Frankly.

lorelilee · 21/10/2010 11:31

thanks for your support Lady, Anonymous and Kucking. I really wasn't trying to rub anyone's nose in it, just pleased for me. Now I'll be accused of being self centred and not having a clue of what's going on around me :)
