To feel annoyed by pregnants teenagers...

When they walk around with a tight primark style t-shirt that looks at least 2 sizes too small for them in order to wear their bump as an accessory?

And to feel even more annoyed when they wear a t-shirt that fits rolled up for the same reason!!!!

being pregnant (26 weeks) i still don't understand why this may seem appropriate.

Ha. I never bought maternity clothing. Just maybe a size or two bigger.

Not quite sure how having someone's bare belly 'thrust' in your face would occur unless you were about 3'5" isisandivan? Apologies if you are.

cakewench · 19/10/2010 21:43

I'm going to say YANBU just because I'm feeling a bit sorry for you in this thread, OP. :)

TheLadyEvilStar · 19/10/2010 21:48

When i fell preg with DS1 I was still going to rock festivals - there was no shame in tight leathers and a cropped/belly top. In fact it was a well seen sight (not just my bump I hasten to add) - My fav top was one which had "BITCH" emblazoned across the front in neon pink.Blush

With DS2 I still wore tight tops but the were a decent length - oh what 9yrs do to you

Chatelaine · 19/10/2010 21:53

YANBU - TBH I feel sorry for them, they usually only have the tenuous and vague status of being an unsupported GF or fiancee at best, so therefore they have to proclaim their pending status to the tax payer!

Valpollicella · 19/10/2010 21:56

Chatelaine Hmm

Chatelaine · 19/10/2010 21:59

I know, I know, the flames, the flames!

happiestblonde · 19/10/2010 22:00

Can the bump get cold? Do you have to keep it warm? Not pg yet but ideally won't be too long so would be useful to know!

YABU if you're just being mean

YANBU if you are implying it's strange to see the pregnancy of a child that is likely i know not always to be born to a single mother who cannot support it/relies on state support/wants a flat as a status symbol. It's quite sad really how some young girls end up pregnant or seek it because they are looking for something that really shouldn't be their own child.

SpecterBooAlot · 19/10/2010 22:01

Wow, Chatelaine, you sound like a bundle of joy. Biscuit

OP - YABU, but I kind of get where you're coming from. Am the same age as you with an 11 mo DS, and I find you can tell the age of a lot of the mums / mums to be from the way they are dressed. But I think that its more about the fashion concious, teen-aimed society we live in than some of us / them being pregnant, wouldn't you agree? :)

(Oh, and anything being shoved in your way at a cash point, pregnant or not, is bloody annoying, so I feel your pain there Grin)

wigglesrock · 19/10/2010 22:03

happiestblonde Biscuit, no go on I'm feeling generous have two Biscuit Biscuit

Giddyup · 19/10/2010 22:05

"fiancee at best", my goodness... I am pushing 30 and only just a fiancee. I am also about to pop out child no.2. Do you feel sorry for me Chatelaine?

laweaselmys · 19/10/2010 22:06

I have got some sympathy for you OP though. Am not a teenage mum, but was young and looked younger. Got some, erm, delightful comments.

It's frustrating when you see yourself as anyother parent that doesn't need any help, to have other young parents around seeming to do everything they can to live up to the crappier stereotypes.

Just ignore them, and concentrate on yourself.

If it's worth anything having good to know a few younger mums I was put off by, I found them overwhelmingly good parents, with happy DC.

Chatelaine · 19/10/2010 22:06

Be reassured. The bump will not get cold, it will take all it needs from it's host mother as long as she lives to supply it.

happiestblonde · 19/10/2010 22:07

I really didnt mean that in the Daily Mail way it came out.

Or are you biscuiing my stupidity at keeping bumps warm Blush ?

wigglesrock · 19/10/2010 22:09

No happiestblonde not biscuiting bump warm but seriously Smile. No am biscuiting Daily Mailness

laweaselmys · 19/10/2010 22:10

Maybe it's best to keep Daily Mailesque thoughts to yourself ey?

I'm not impressed with your assesment of why I have DD.

SpecterBooAlot · 19/10/2010 22:10

Chatelaine, now you're just being a bitch.

Chatelaine · 19/10/2010 22:11

Giddyup - OP was referring to teenagers and I have a very well developed sense of humour.

Chatelaine · 19/10/2010 22:14

SpecterBooAlot - I do resent being called a bitch.

happiestblonde · 19/10/2010 22:18

What I meant is that a baby isn't a fashion accessory/status symbol it's a life. If it is considered otherwise that's pretty bad and arguably worse if the baby is born into an unstable environment. No Daily Fail I promise!

Something worth biscuiting though - I did consider buying a pre-emptive 'time for a change' baby-grow at Tory conference this year but thought it might scare DP and be a bit weird

SpecterBooAlot · 19/10/2010 22:19

And I resent such implications and assumptions being made about me and my parenting abilities because of my age.

happiestblonde · 19/10/2010 22:20

I was by no means saying all young mums are so for those reasons, I was going on what other posters/OP were saying hypothetically.. argh! TBH I'm 22 and considering one pretty soon, I look 19 on an old day so I'm expecting similar looks of disapproval in Waitrose myself :)

Valpollicella · 19/10/2010 22:21

Are you a mother Chatelaine?

wigglesrock · 19/10/2010 22:21

happiestblonde Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit Biscuit here have a whole packet Biscuit

HoneyIatethekidsdragon · 19/10/2010 22:26

I saw a young tanned pregnant lady last week and tbh if I were that tanned, taught of body and pregnant I would've loved to wear the crop top and short skirt combo, just to show I could.

I also forgave the Uggs with bare legs and short shirt, as they are comfy and she was heavily pregnant.

The line was drawn at legwarmers and scarf. She was either cold or not!!!!! You can't be both and it being October is a clue as to which season we are in! A coat would be better not legwarmers???????

Oh ffs I'm old and judgey

isisandivan · 19/10/2010 22:26

haha, no I'm not that short!! I was getting my card out of my purse , and glimpsed up just as she turned around!!!

And no, I'm not being mean..it is just really puzzling me why?Confused Especially seeing as i am in that age range and seem not to get it or understand why..although it is something i noticed long before i became pregnant myself.
