To feel annoyed by pregnants teenagers...

isisandivan · 19/10/2010 20:03

When they walk around with a tight primark style t-shirt that looks at least 2 sizes too small for them in order to wear their bump as an accessory?

And to feel even more annoyed when they wear a t-shirt that fits rolled up for the same reason!!!!

being pregnant (26 weeks) i still don't understand why this may seem appropriate.

Why does rolling the t-shirt up make the bump anymore of an "accessory"?

I had my baby 3 months ago, Im 20, I was 19 when I got pregnant and I liked showing off my bump, I was proud of it and Im now a very proud mummy.

Who cares what they wear, when they have the baby will they then be using the buggy as an "accessory"?

wigglesrock · 19/10/2010 20:48

PS What's a "primark style t-shirt", is it worse than a tight "John Lewis style t-shirt"? I am 23 weeks pregnant and if I was a teenager - all legs, glossy hair and having a glowy pregnancy you'd be hard pushed to get me out of a bikini Wink.

Instead I am old enough to be the pregnant teenagers mum (making me a virtual granny!!) YABVU

isisandivan · 19/10/2010 20:50

i am a young mum. Im 19.

It just seems that it is mostly the younger ones do this rather than the elder ones..and to be honest i would be annoyed by anyone doing it. But have never seen any mothers that are 'maturer' than us doing it. so why do it?? Am i missing something?

Maybe they only have the primark tshirts because they were on BOGOF with the little baby headbands emblazoned with 'future wag'

Yawn.

TooImmature2BMum · 19/10/2010 20:53

Psh. If I wasn't convinced my bump just looks like fat (only 20+5) I would be seriously tempted. After all, when else will I be pert of boob and stretch-mark free? Think will do it when bump gets a bit bigger and more definitely a bump.

Lolalocket · 19/10/2010 20:55

I come from an area with a huge amount of teen pregnancies as does DH. With the exception of some celebrities on TV I have honestly never ever seen this.

I had my first baby at 29. At the time I lived in a very hot country (aahh happy days) and I spent the vast majority of my time off lying around in a bikini. Is this cheap?

Yes, you are missing the sagginess from more than one child, the overwhelming knackeredness from having several under 6, the fact that past 30 nothing bounces back anymore, well maybe the tummy you never quite managed to get rid of Wink

It's just how other people dress, honestly would you rather they covered everything up and had the awkward packing on the few pounds or actually pregnant moment (again speaking from the voice of bitter experience Blush)

I personally don't like bumps that are shown (especially when accompanied with massive stretchmarks) but that is my personal taste.

YABU as it's aged defined. Hate bump showing or not, but I don't see why it's a teen mum issue only.

If you just want to rant about young mums at least try and find a more valid reason Biscuit

DuelingFanjo · 19/10/2010 21:04

I am 40 and I wear clothes which show my bump. My workmate thinks I should wear a tent.

TondelayooohSchwarlock · 19/10/2010 21:08
Biscuit

My first and all!

Whocantakeasunrise · 19/10/2010 21:11

I didn't like to wear tight top as at 5 1/2 stone I looked a bit skeletal, but this had absolutely nothing to do with me being 16/17!!!

Hassled · 19/10/2010 21:13

Blame that one from All Saints. Not the talented one, not the sisters, the other one. She started it - rolled-up skin-tight T shirt, huge bump, combat trousers, looked gorgeous. Cow.

BarbaraSeville · 19/10/2010 21:13

How did you get pregnant at that weight, Whocantakeasunrise?

shadycharacter · 19/10/2010 21:15

I personally prefer the tighter tops as I think the baggy tops make me a)look fat, b)look like i'm trying to dress like a 30 yr old. I love seeing pregnant ladies bumps, why should they be hidden?! I wear stretchy tops over my bump with waterfall type cardis over the top and I think it's highly appropriate thanks. Anyway what do you mean by "not appropriate"? Do you think baby bumps are vulgar or something OP? Confused

Whocantakeasunrise · 19/10/2010 21:17

I was just shy of 8 stone when I fell pregnant, but then lived on a diet of mini doughnuts, due to severe morning sickness, and lost the 2 1/2 stone and was 5 1/2 when I gave birth.

Opposite happened second time around 8 stone to 10 1/2 stone - that's what happens when you're not a teenager!!!! Grin

BarbaraSeville · 19/10/2010 21:19

Ain't that the truth?[hgrin]

TandB · 19/10/2010 21:20

YANBU. Obviously they should be made to wear coarse linen dresses with a large scarlet "A" on the front....

Whocantakeasunrise · 19/10/2010 21:22

Now that's something to get knarky about teenagers -

AIBU to be disgusted that when teenagers give birth, their stomach muscles are so tight, they contract immediately, and when you aren't a teenager six years on they still have forgotton to contract!

AIBU to be disgusted that when a teenage mum needs to be up all night their bodies can do it as that's natures way to enable them to go clubbing, but when your not a teenage mum you want to be tucked up in bed at 9pm thank you very much!

laweaselmys · 19/10/2010 21:23

I may aim to be PG in the summer next time.

Age 21 gorgeous bump. Cold snowy winter. Hmm.

TondelayooohSchwarlock · 19/10/2010 21:26

I love a thread with a Nathaniel Hawthorne reference Kungfupanda!

Meglet · 19/10/2010 21:33

I'm only posting so I can keep an eye out for Realitys t-shirt.

I wore tight maternity t-shirts in both pregnancies (aged 32 and 34), so much comfier than a tent.

isisandivan · 19/10/2010 21:33

Perhaps it is the area i am from then, seeing as this isn't an often occurrence for some people on here.

I am not against making people aware of our bumps, and understand people don't want to have to wear baggy tops all the time..just buy one that's the right size? Or a realistic size? or a jacket?? it is getting colder now, isn't it?

And i guess it would seem i am being totally unreasonable to be annoyed at having someones bare belly thrust in my face whilst queuing to use the cash point ( where the rant started from Blush)

isisandivan · 19/10/2010 21:36

Don't worry Whocantakeasunrise I am tucked up in bed as soon as i arrive home from work too!!!
