They either belong to the babysitter or my husband.

I wouldn't have thought of them being his, except they appeared near a pile of things he is taking on a work trip tomorrow.

I hope they are not my babysitter's because that would mean she has been removing her knickers, rather than sitting pleasantly in my house looking after my children.

Babysitter came in this afternoon, immediately spotted the pants on the sofa, rolled her eyes and said "oh look, these are my friend's, she came round last night and we sorted through a couple of big bags of jumble on the floor in here."

I said (a touch archly) that I had been wondering where they had came from, and that she had better give them back to her friend then.

"Oh no", said BS, "they're second hand pants, I'll chuck them in the bin"

And that was that.

She is either a superlative actress, or that is really what happened.
