It is hardly the same as triplets/twins/etc when 3 singleton children are born on the same day though different years.

YABU.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 14/10/2010 19:59

Definitely not the same, I know someone who shares a birthday with his brother on Christmas day.

Difference is that these children were born in different years which makes it far more unlikely than if they were twins, triplets or even quads conceived together. I would have thought it rare to find 3 children from one mother born on the same date in different years.

My brother and sisters birthday are 2 days apart though there is a few years age difference. My mum was applying for benefits and had to supply birth dates of her children. She got a very concerned call from DSS asking whether she had twins and saying how awful her labour must have been if they were born two days apart. She'd put the right birthdays with the wrong year for my sister!

yellowvan · 14/10/2010 20:02

d'you think they (same/near birthdate sibs) were the result of the annual "anniversary shag2????

FlyingInTheCLouds · 14/10/2010 20:22

two of mine share a birthday (not twins)I would find it amazing to have another on the same day

one of my bf with twins managed to have them on separate days.

cleo78 · 14/10/2010 20:35

My DS was born on my birthday...would definately find it amazing if we had another one on the same date!

atmywitssend · 14/10/2010 20:37

My cousin's DC 1 and DC3 share a birthday with each other and with her!

girlsyearapart · 14/10/2010 20:38

my first two are a year apart and three days so born on the 10th and 13th which people find amazing enough..

Nextsale · 14/10/2010 20:39

i think this is quite commom because when dc1 gets to a certain age say 2 or 3 you start thinking of having another

otchayaniye · 14/10/2010 20:39

Cleo, my daughter was born on my birthday too -- next Saturday!

AMumInScotland · 14/10/2010 20:46

I read this earlier and was quite amused that they quoted some amazing odds against it happening. As if having babies was a totally random event which could not be influenced by anything the parents did....

3 October babies could well be the result of 3 boring and cold Januaries Grin

Mumcentreplus · 14/10/2010 20:50

Both my uncles and their mother were all born on the same day...they had many years apart though...

MumBarTheDoorZombiesAreComing · 14/10/2010 20:50

I was born 2 days after my mums birthday, she went into labour on her birthday. My DS was born 2 days after my birthday and I went into labour on my birthday too. Came out of hospital 4 days later on his dads birthday!

My cousins baby was born 2 days afetr DS who incidently was due on his dads cousins birthday.

Mt other cousins DD was born on his birthday, my other cousins dd is 2 days later.

My other cousins dd was born 3 days before DS so the dc's in this generation are all 3 days apart in this month. (my cousin whos dd was born to fit the aug pattern was due in dec when the other 2 were born)

Whats even more amusing is that from 1978 until 1990 my mum and her sisters each had a baby in each of the years. Then we became sporadic until we started having babies and started a new pattern. Grin

Oh have a cousin born xmas day too.

3 on same day on different years tho - hope these parents do the lottery.

LauraNorder · 14/10/2010 20:53

I share the same birthday as my brother, he is 6 years younger than me. Both DD1 and DD2 were due on our birthday but DD1 was born 5 days before and DD2 13 days before -that would have been spooky!

sharbie · 14/10/2010 20:55

dd has a cousin who is one day older than her she was 5 wks early cousin was 2 weeks late.
cousins sibling was born couple of years later but 1 day apart and another sibling on a date within a week of the other two siblings.
both dd and her cousin have same surnames and initials, born at same hospital but he is a boy.i wd say close dates not that unusual.

strongblackcoffee · 14/10/2010 20:59

My dad and his twin were born on their older brother's birthday, which also happened to be 3 September 1939!

(how good is your history?! Wink)

potplant · 14/10/2010 21:05

There were a set of brothers at nursery with mine who were born a year and one day apart in September. Their mum used to joke (?) that they weren't staying in on news year eve ever again Grin.

Lyra75 · 14/10/2010 21:16

I have two children, two years apart, same birthday! Not sure we'd manage to time a third on the same day as well though.

saffy85 · 14/10/2010 21:24

My uncles nearly had the same birthday, 7 years apart. Missed by a couple of hours if that. Gran went into labour at older uncle's birthday party and was taken to hospital while grandad stayed home trying to entertain 20 odd kids til it was time to go home. Longest 2 hours of his life apparently. Grin
