I love how teenagers think they invented this stuff. Kids in my classes do say 'lol' instead of laughing at things. It sounds like they're being all cool and ironic, but really they have no concept of any difference between real life conversation and internet chat.

evilants - exactly right, can't stand the lack of punctuation, which has been replaced by "lol" etc.

Also those stupid faces at the end of sentences that don't even look like an expression... :-// and :-L etc...
