I love how teenagers think they invented this stuff. Kids in my classes do say 'lol' instead of laughing at things. It sounds like they're being all cool and ironic, but really they have no concept of any difference between real life conversation and internet chat. Grin

PreciousCargo · 13/10/2010 12:27

evilants - exactly right, can't stand the lack of punctuation, which has been replaced by "lol" etc.

Also those stupid faces at the end of sentences that don't even look like an expression... :-// and :-L etc...

Are they all just a cry for help?

EvilAntsAndMiasmas · 13/10/2010 15:17

:o at "cry for help"

Can only assume so.

ChippingIn · 13/10/2010 15:43

I thought this was going to be about guests lolling rather than sitting on your settee/sofa/lounge suite (depending where you live and how you were brought up!)... sad to see it wasn't - LOL :) Grin heh heh ha ha ha pmsl rofl

mumbar · 13/10/2010 18:53

Ah see I wasn't the only one who thought that - scary tho as often chippings thinking what I am and both totally off on one on this thread Grin

SleepingLion · 13/10/2010 19:01

My sister uses lol, babe, mom and a whole host of Americanisms on her FB page and her blog. She was talking about the fall the other day. I wanted to type:

IT'S AUTUMN! YOU GREW UP IN THE FUCKING WEST MIDLANDS, FFS!

but thought that might not promote sisterly harmony Grin

But I might have to delete her from my FB friends, and that's not going to go so well either.

What can I dooooooooooooo??

vbusymum1 · 13/10/2010 19:10
