Show us some shoes and a handbag and stop moaning.

ROFL

MayorNaze · 12/10/2010 15:25

luvs ya hun

xxx

GetOrfMoiLand · 12/10/2010 15:25

Oh piss orf you miserable bugger.

I say lol all the time (in real life and on MN, innit blood).

I actually ADMITTED ON MUMSNET the other day that my dd and I actually say lol (to rhyme with doll) to each other, in lieu of actually laughing

Which is rather worrying I must say lol

IMoveTheStars · 12/10/2010 15:26
Grin

threads like this make me rofl :)

GetOrfMoiLand · 12/10/2010 15:27

My dd's facebook profile is like this.

I got an A in my exam today lol

AbsofCroissant · 12/10/2010 15:28

GOML

Saying it out loud?!

But well done on the clever child - obviously all your genes

escape · 12/10/2010 15:28

GetOrf - seriously? Tha'ts pretty bad! I take it you both do a lot of texting?
Saying that - I tried to 'reply' twitter style to your post and was looking for the button, so I'm as bad

notwavingjustironing · 12/10/2010 15:28

You're disrespecting our human rights to lol, though, for sure.

Saw Armstrong and Miller on Saturday night, and can't seem to stop talking like the airmen (without the humour and the delivery, obviously)

MayorNaze · 12/10/2010 15:28

oh GetOrf :(

jilly would never lol Grin

I have to do it on fcebook, as once I put something as a joke, and put a Wink face next to it, and my friend couldn't tell i was joking.
I actually had to explain it.
So now when I post on her wall, I put lol when it's a joke.
I have never done this at any other time. I don't like it.

ThatDamnDog · 12/10/2010 15:29

Shirley Grin

GetOrfMoiLand · 12/10/2010 15:31

Christ, no, I never text (otehr than to say 'ok' to dd when she texts me).

It started as a joke, DP got some texts from DD with lol in, and he was like the OP in his apoplexy. So we just say lol to each other to piss him off. Well, that's how it started anyway.

aquavit · 12/10/2010 15:35

My guess is that you are spending too much time on twitter rather than netmums

sometimes 140 characters just aren't enough unless you abbreviate

Jilly might not lol but I do like her efforts to reproduce teenage speak in the recent ones

also roffle at 'innit blood'

GetOrfMoiLand · 12/10/2010 15:38

Yes I agree that the OP spends too much time on twitter rather than on here, where she belongs, nagging us all and harping on about vitalumiere.

Vinegartits · 12/10/2010 15:38

i dont mind lol

Hun however, makes me want to kneecap the person calling me it

in fact, on my profile on a dating site i was once on, i put 'if you call me 'hun' i will hunt you down and shoot you'

i got called aggesive by one guy Confused

IMoveTheStars · 12/10/2010 15:39

aqua, it's blud, innit!

Booboobedoo · 12/10/2010 15:40

I remember someone posting on here about their Dad thinking that lol meant laugh out loud.

He sent a text to a recently bereaved friend: something along the lines of...

'So sorry for your loss lol'.

aquavit · 12/10/2010 15:40

dammit

blame GetOrf

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 12/10/2010 15:41

but people were lolling well before the huns even acquired internet access - possibly before some of them were even born!

We need to reclaim it.

IMO.

GetOrfMoiLand · 12/10/2010 15:42

I did ponder whether if it should be blood or blud.

But then I thought what a fucking silly thing to ponder about Grin

Whateva

GetOrfMoiLand · 12/10/2010 15:43

Reminds me of the cool/embarassind dad in Modern Family.

'I know text speak. LOL = laugh out loud. HTH = hope to help. WTF = why the face'

IMoveTheStars · 12/10/2010 15:44

Grin fine GOML, you spel it blood, I spel it blud, whateva!

I've been lolling about on the internet for the last 15 years...

Winedine69me · 12/10/2010 15:45

YABU, it's something that is used regularly as opposed to saying 'that is funny'. It doesn't bother me one bit. Just ignore it.

Why is there is a such a bad opinion about NM?

Surely that doesn't help the stereotype that MN is for middle class types. (I will probably get flamed but I enjoy MN and I am far from middle class)

vbusymum1 · 12/10/2010 15:46

Oh I'm disappointed, I thought this was going to be about your teenagers lolling around and you were cross that they were being lazy, something along the lines of "why don't you turn off the tv and go and ds something more interesting instead".

Instead I get a load of unintelligable abbreviations - I'm off Grin
